Chapter 638 Escape Curse
Chapter 638 Escape Curse
The Escape Charm allows a person to leave a confined space and arrive in a larger place outside. It is another form of Apparition, but simpler.
The downside is that it's not very flexible. For example, if there's a larger room outside the room, the escape spell can only send the person into the second room, instead of onto the street outside.
But that was enough. A few years ago, a wizard used his masterful escape spell to impersonate a magician and became famous in the Muggle world, making a lot of money.
An hour later, Celen left the headmaster's office. Just a second before closing the door, he saw the phoenix Fawkes leave its perch and fly to the top of Dumbledore's head.
Then, a red light flashed through the crack in the door.
Xilun closed the door to the principal's office and went back to the hallway outside.
"At the speed of a phoenix, Dumbledore should already be at Number Twelve Grimmauld Place by now," Siren thought to himself, stopping in front of the Gryffindor common room.
"Unity is strength."
"That's right, this is the most important thing," the plump lady said, then opened the portrait to reveal the passage behind it.
This is the password for the Gryffindor common room. It's been the same since the start of the semester, and I doubt it will ever change.
Standing in front of the passage, Xiren sighed softly.
He really wanted to go to the cave where the locket was hidden. He remembered that there seemed to be a large group of Yin Corpses inside. That was a brand new material for the staff core, which he had never used before.
In Siron's view, this trip was not dangerous at all. With Dumbledore around, neither the infernals nor any other magical traps would be of any use. He could walk around that cave with impunity.
But Dumbledore seemed to value his promise to Lila this time, insisting on not taking her away from the school.
"I should have waited until Christmas to take this locket out," Xilen said with a hint of regret.
During the Christmas holidays, he asked to go to the cave with me, and Dumbledore probably had no reason to refuse.
"Forget it, there's no use thinking about it now." Xilun shook his head and walked into the common room.
In any case, at least Dumbledore won't have to drink Voldemort's potion this time.
Of course, if he really craves it, then there's nothing that can be done.
The common room was deserted and unusually quiet—right, the Quidditch qualifying tournament wasn't over yet, and most people were probably still on the Quidditch pitch outside.
While sitting in the empty common room, Siron suddenly thought of a question—could the Escape Charm be used at Hogwarts?
Hogwarts forbids Apparition, but the Escape Charm is a spell; will it be affected?
Without hesitation, Siron immediately took out his wand.
"Like a cicada shedding its shell!"
Everything around seemed to suddenly shrink countless times, compressed into lines of different colors.
The next second, these things were magnified again, but they all looked different.
The armchairs were transformed into railings, and the shelf on the wall that held the Wizard's Chess and the Explosion Cards was replaced by a portrait of the Fat Lady.
Siren has successfully made his way from the common room to the outside corridor—it seems the Escape Charm is unaffected by the Anti-Apparition Charm and can be used even at Hogwarts.
Although they couldn't appear directly outside the castle, being able to pass through a wall was already quite an achievement.
"Wait, didn't you just go in?" The fat lady looked at Siren, who had suddenly appeared in front of her, and rubbed her eyes in confusion.
"When did you come out—oh wait, I don't remember you coming out at all."
"You must be mistaken," Xilun said calmly. "I just came out to pick something up. You can see for yourself."
He took a quill pen out of his pocket and waved it around.
"This is what I just found on the stairs, a Weasley automatic inkjet quill pen, it must have cost a lot of money."
The plump woman scratched her head in confusion.
She still had no recollection of it, but seeing Xilun's serious expression, she subconsciously nodded in agreement.
"Maybe I didn't sleep well last night," she said. "Do you still want to go in?"
"Of course, I still have a lot of homework to do," Celen said. "Let's stick together."
"This time, there's no need to give the password." The plump lady opened the portrait for the second time.
After returning to the common room, Siren went to the dormitory again and tried the escape spell, which was successful once more.
But this time he didn't appear in the outside corridor; instead, he appeared in the common lounge.
A freshman happened to return from outside. Upon seeing the sudden appearance of Xilen, he immediately wore the same expression as the fat lady, even forgetting the chocolate frog he was holding.
Despite losing a leg, the Chocolate Frog struggled to break free from the boy's grasp and disappeared with a leap.
"My chocolate!" The boy, ignoring Siron, scrambled towards the spot where the chocolate frog had last appeared.
Hopefully he can catch it; that thing runs pretty fast.
Siren walked out of the common room, intending to go to the Room of Requirement to see if the spell would work in the magically protected room.
He tried five times in a row, but it was all impossible—or rather, he could leave the room that the Room of Requirement had conjured up, but he could not leave the Room of Requirement itself.
When Siron uses this spell inside, he will only appear by the wall and will not appear in the corridor outside.
It seems that it is only immune to the Anti-Apparition Charm; it still cannot be affected by magically protected areas.
The result was somewhat disappointing, but Siren did not leave immediately. Instead, he continued to practice the spell in the Room of Requirement.
Regardless, it's a very useful life-saving spell, just like in Bob Ogden's memory, where he easily escaped the encirclement of Marvolo and Morfin using this spell.
Xiren practiced in the Room of Requirement all day long, and it wasn't until almost dinnertime that he returned to the outside corridor.
By this time, he was already proficient in using the Escape Spell. The next step was to abandon the spell, but there was no rush; he could take his time.
The most important thing now is dinner. He only ate two candies he carried with him at noon and then focused on practicing spells all day. He was starving.
I came to the lobby from the stairs.
Just then, Harry and his friends walked in from outside.
Ron walked in front, looking very excited.
"How did the selection competition go?" Although he already knew the answer in his heart, Xilun still asked.
"I managed to save five shots!" Ron looked even more excited.
“I don’t think the Great Hall entrance is a good place to talk,” Harry said, coming up from behind. “I’m really starving, why can’t we eat and talk at the same time?”
"Didn't you eat lunch either?" Xilun asked.
"Hagrid provided the rock bread." Harry shuddered, as if he had thought of something bad.
"But that thing isn't suitable for me—no, it's not suitable for all wizards."
