Hogwarts: Don't call me the Staff Maker

Chapter 641 Regulus Black

Chapter 641 Regulus Black

Chapter 641 Regulus Black

When Siren arrived at the headmaster's office at the agreed time, Dumbledore was already waiting there.

Slughorn's potion worked very well; he looked much better, and his face had regained some color.

When Xiren came in, he was talking to the portrait on the wall.

"I think you should go back and see Phoenix. His courage commands my respect—oh, Siron, I was just wondering when you'd be coming."

Upon seeing Siren enter the office, Dumbledore immediately smiled and waved.

He looked pleased and pointed to a box of candies he had just bought from Honeydukes on the table.

"Don't be shy, eat as much as you want, I bought a lot."

Xilun glanced at it and smiled as he refused—he still couldn't quite accept something like a string of cockroaches.

Although everyone who's tried it says it tastes great, even sweeter than Chocolate Frog, he still prefers Chocolate Frog.

At least the process of collecting cards is quite fun.

"Professor, has the matter of the Slytherin locket been clarified?" Siron asked.

"Ah, that's clear now." Dumbledore happily ate a candy.

"I went to number twelve Grimmauld Place and found the house-elf named Kreacher."

"Things went even more smoothly than I expected. As soon as I took out the locket, the little elf immediately told me everything that happened back then."

Dumbledore walked behind the table and sat down, gesturing for Siren to sit down and listen as well.

Xiren then noticed that a chair had suddenly appeared behind him.

I don't know when it started, but the portraits on the wall stopped dozing off and all opened their eyes. They were now huddled in the frame closest to Dumbledore, watching him and Siron with great interest.

"Dumbledore, I don't think this kind of thing, which involves the secrets of the Black family, should be told to a student." Phineas Black looked at Siron with an unfriendly gaze.

"Kid, this is none of your business. Go back to sleep."

Xilun did not move.

Even if it were Phineas himself, let alone just a portrait of him, Xiren wouldn't pay him any attention.

"Phineas, I believe Siren has the right to know all this, or rather, he is the one who deserves the most credit in this matter," Dumbledore said calmly.

"Dumbledore is right," another headmaster immediately stated, while glancing sideways at Phineas Black.

"Some people are truly ungrateful. If Mr. Ollivander hadn't produced that locket, do you think your descendant would have been discovered by now?"

"To be honest, you're quite a failure," said another tall, thin headmaster. "This is clearly a matter for your Black family, and you know absolutely nothing about it, needing an outsider to handle it—tsk, tsk, tsk!"

Hearing Armando Dipette's sarcastic remarks, Phineas's face turned bright red, and it seemed as if wisps of white smoke were rising from the portrait.

"I'm just a portrait—over a hundred years old, they won't tell me everything—" Phineas retorted, sticking out his neck.

But his explanation clearly had no effect; the principals' laughter only grew louder.

Dumbledore pretended not to hear any of this. He waved his hand, conjured a cup of black tea for himself, and a cup of hot cocoa for Siron.

Of course, these weren't conjured by magic; they were prepared by house-elves and then moved from the kitchen.

Xilun took a sip; it was a bit bitter, but still acceptable.

There was nothing he could do if he didn't accept it. The sugar cubes that were brought along with the hot cocoa and black tea were all poured into Dumbledore's teacup, leaving only a little powder in the saucer.

"Where were we?" Dumbledore's finger gently swirled around in his teacup, causing the black tea inside to slowly rotate.

"Oh, by the way, Kreacher, he told us everything."

"It all started more than a decade ago when Voldemort found a perfect place to store his Horcruxes: a stone basin in a cave."

"He prepared an ancient poison to protect the Horcrux, a poison that could not be transferred elsewhere and could only be ingested—to achieve his goal, he had to weaken himself. This was indeed Voldemort's method, but it was too crude."

"He needed to find someone to test this method, so the house-elf Kreacher became the victim, and everything that followed was exactly as he expected. After drinking the potion, Kreacher quickly lost consciousness."

"But Voldemort did not expect that Kreacher, because of his master's order for him to go home, would miraculously wake up after he left and return to Regulus's side."

Dumbledore couldn't help but wipe away the tears from the corners of his eyes. "Voldemort will probably never understand that strong emotions can sometimes be far more terrifying than magic."

The portraits of the principal behind them all emitted a series of unintelligible sounds.

"It was because of this incident that young Regulus finally saw the true nature of the Death Eaters. It was not the great cause he had imagined, but a war filled with destruction and annihilation."

"So soon after, Regulus, having come to his senses, returned to the cave. He drank the potion, had Kreacher take the real Horcrux locket, and demanded that Kreacher destroy it."

"6

"But how could a house-elf possibly destroy a Horcrux? Until that day, you went to number twelve Grimmauld Place—as if it were all destined."

There's no such thing as destiny. He was just after that locket anyway—Sirlen muttered to himself. Otherwise, why would he go to an old house that's been abandoned for over a decade? To go on an adventure?

Of course, on the surface, Xilun still pretended to suddenly realize something.

"So, Professor, have you found Regulus?"

"It took a lot of time and effort, but we finally found it," Dumbledore said with a smile. "If we hadn't found it, Sirius wouldn't have let me go so easily."

He seemed to be in a really good mood, he was even joking around.

But Xilun was inevitably a little disappointed.

Dumbledore finding Regulus means they've returned from that cave—he was hoping to get some wand core material, but it seems that's no longer an option.

"Professor, is this all you wanted to say to me?"

"That's the main thing, and I think you should know that," Dumbledore said. "There's another thing, Sirius and Kreacher both want to thank you. We've prepared a simple memorial service for Regulus at the Order of the Phoenix headquarters, and Sirius specifically reminded me to invite you."

“Of course I have no problem with that,” Celen said. “But is that alright? I mean, you promise my mother you won’t let me leave Hogwarts.”

"It's during class time," Dumbledore blinked, "but today is the weekend, Hogwarts doesn't have classes."
