Hogwarts: Don't call me the Staff Maker

Chapter 644 Hogsmeade Week

Sylvanas and Harry were sent back to Hogwarts by Dumbledore, which is why they didn't miss lunchtime.

While in the Great Hall, Ron curiously asked Harry where he had gone that morning and what important matter had made Sirius Black specifically ask Professor McGonagall for leave.

Harry also told him and Hermione about Regulus, something that Dumbledore and Sirius had both agreed to.

Hermione and Ron were also shocked to learn that Sirius had such a younger brother.

"It's a shame Sirius didn't let us come along," Hermione said.

"There's nothing we can do about it." Ron grabbed a chicken leg from the plate. "Now, leaving the school requires the student's parents' permission."

My mom definitely won't allow me to leave Hogwarts during class time, not even today, which is the weekend.

Ron knew Mrs. Weasley all too well; she wouldn't ask for leave for something like this, since he had no idea who Regulus was before.

Hermione is the same; her parents are Muggles, so they know even less.

They're different from Harry. Harry is Sirius Black's godson, while Regulus is Sirius's brother. So, by that logic, they're practically family—well, maybe.

After lunch, Sirius glanced at Dumbledore's seat in the teachers' section; it was still empty.

After sending them back to Hogwarts, Dumbledore did not join them for lunch in the Great Hall.

Xilun initially thought he just wanted to go back to his office, but he didn't show up until lunchtime was over.

Clearly, Dumbledore has left again.

He seems to have become busier than before lately; nobody knows where he's gone or what he's doing.

Moreover, in the following weeks, Siren only saw Dumbledore twice, one of which was to give him and Harry a lesson.

That class was unusually short, only half an hour. Dumbledore showed them a memory of the house-elf Kreacher, about Regulus.

In her memory, Siren saw the gloomy, damp cave, and Regulus forced himself to drink the potion from the stone basin, then threw the locket inside to Kreacher, ordering it to go home and find a way to destroy the locket.

Then they put a fake one back into the original stone basin.

The fake locket contained only a note, written by Regulus to Voldemort. Through the perspective of the house-elf Kreacher, they also saw the contents of the note.

To the Dark Lord:

I know you will only see this letter after I die, but I want you to know that I discovered your secret and intend to destroy it as soon as possible.

I am willing to die so that when you encounter an opponent, you can become a mortal again.

RAB

Siren felt that Dumbledore wanted them to know the contents of that note, which was why he gave this special lesson.

When Harry returned to the Gryffindor tower and told Hermione and Ron what had happened, Hermione couldn't hold back her tears.

"Dumbledore is right, he is indeed the bravest Slytherin."

"I think he's more like Gryffindor," Ron said.

Xiren looked up at him—if Regulus were still alive, he would most likely have challenged Ron to a duel upon hearing this.

Because in many people's minds—especially in Slytherins' minds, "Gryffindor" is an insult, meaning an impulsive and brainless fool. Siron still remembers how angry he was when he was first sorted into Gryffindor by the Sorting Hat, and he even wanted to turn the Sorting Hat into a wand core and stuff it into his wand.

Of course, this idea still exists to this day, but he just hasn't found an opportunity to make a move.

In mid-October, a notice was posted in the common room announcing a trip to Hogsmeade Village.

"Great!" Ron exclaimed happily. The security measures around the school had been getting increasingly strict lately, and he had thought Professor McGonagall had forbidden them from going to Hogsmeade. He was overjoyed to know they could still go.

Siron was also somewhat surprised. Thinking about it carefully, he realized that it had been a long time since he had been to Hogsmeade Village.

Last year, Sirius wrote him a letter, urging him and Harry to stay in Hogwarts Castle and avoid going to Hogsmeade Village.

Since then, Siron has never been back to Hogsmeade.

However, he is prepared to go this time.

Because Dumbledore has returned, Sirius saw him at the teachers' table at breakfast today for the first time ever.

Moreover, his conversation with Professor McGonagall revealed that he would be in the principal's office all day.

Since Dumbledore is at Hogwarts, there's nothing to worry about.

After breakfast that day, Siron, Harry, Ron, and Hermione went to the foyer to queue. Near the main entrance, Filch was using a strange machine to check everyone for any prohibited dark magical items.

Harry and Hermione started arguing again because this morning, Harry tried a spell he learned from the Potions book on Ron.

Hermione was furious when she found out.

"You actually decided to experiment on a handwritten, unfamiliar spell, and on your own friend no less?"

"So what if it's handwritten?" Harry said, deliberately downplaying the issue and ignoring the other problems.

"Have you ever considered that this magic might cost Ron his life?"

"Hey, Hermione, it's not that exaggerated. I just hooked my ankles and hung me upside down."

Ron tried to smooth things over, saying, "After all, not everyone writes the Avada Kedavra curse in a book, right? And I think Harry can definitely tell whether it's a dark magic spell or not."

Hermione was even angrier. In her opinion, Harry, like Ron, had no idea how serious the situation was.

"Trying an unfamiliar spell on a friend is no joke!"

"Come on, you just think the 'Prince' is better at Potions than you are."

"It has absolutely nothing to do with that!" Hermione said, her cheeks turning bright red, which made her explanation seem somewhat weak.

Fortunately, it was finally their turn. Filch came over with that strange-looking instrument and repeatedly measured them.

This machine can detect traces of black magic on objects, preventing anyone from bringing dangerous items back to the castle.

"So what if we smuggled some dark magic items out?" Ron asked doubtfully. "You should probably check what we brought in instead of wasting time here."

Then Filch poked him hard a few times with the probe, making him wince in pain.

This little incident also temporarily ended Harry and Hermione's argument. They didn't want to argue in front of Filch, but neither of them could convince the other, so they simply stopped talking.
