Hulk lay on the ground, seemingly stunned. The rage in his eyes was slowly fading, replaced by a hint of confusion.
Just then, Natasha climbed out through the breach.
She didn't look at Chu Hang, but slowly walked towards Hulk and extended her hand.
"Hulk, they didn't mean to hurt you. Take a rest." Her voice was soft and gentle.
Hulk looked at her, breathing heavily.
Chapter 106 The Death of Coulson
Natasha's hand rested on Hulk's arm.
The Hulk breathed heavily, the madness in his eyes subsided, and he transformed back into Dr. Banner. He curled up on the cold deck like a frightened child.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
But he hadn't quite gotten over it yet.
A deafening roar came from the left stern of the mothership. The entire ship tilted violently to one side, the deck beneath their feet almost vertical. The ear-piercing metallic clanging sound sent chills down their spines, and red warning lights flashed in every corner.
"Engine number three has exploded! We are losing power! We are falling!"
On the bridge, Agent Hill's shouts echoed throughout the mothership via the public channel.
"The altitude is dropping by one hundred feet per second!"
"It's over!" a young agent cried out in despair.
"Shut up!" Fury's roar drowned out all other noise. "Activate backup power! All ground crew, immediately proceed to engine bay three and stand by!"
On the deck, Chu Hang picked up the weakened Banner and tossed him to Natasha, who had run over.
"Take him to the medical room."
He looked up; the massive turbine engine was belching black smoke and sparks. The blades were deformed and jammed against the support. The entire ship, having lost its balance, began to spin and plummet through the air.
“I need armor,” Tony’s voice came through the communicator as he ran from the bridge to his makeshift workshop.
"Captain, you're in charge of the deck. Don't let them get into complete chaos," Chu Hang said into the communicator. "Tony, you're in charge of the outside. Straighten the blades of that big thing. I'll fix the core inside."
"You? Fix engines?" Tony's voice was full of doubt. "Do you know how complex that thing is? It's..."
"It's not much more complicated than your tin can," Chu Hang interrupted him. "Do as I say."
The words had barely left his mouth when a sonic boom erupted from the direction of Tony's studio. The red and gold Mark 6 armor shot into the sky, tracing an arc as it hurtled towards the out-of-control engine.
Steve had already begun using internal communications to direct the agents running around on deck to safe positions. His calm and firm voice quickly quelled the panic.
Chu Hang took a breath, and with a flash, disappeared from the deck.
The next second, he appeared in the core power compartment of Engine No. 3.
This place is like hell.
The explosion destroyed everything. Thick energy pipes in the ceiling were severed, blue arcs of electricity crisscrossing like snakes. The ground was littered with charred debris and coolant, and the air was thick with the acrid smell of ozone and molten metal.
The main power regulator was blown in half, with countless broken cables hanging down, spewing sparks.
"A shoddy construction project," Chu Hang couldn't help but curse.
In his mind, the engineering knowledge he had copied from Tony and Ivan began to operate. Countless blueprints, energy circuits, and mechanical structures flashed through his mind.
In two seconds, he found the root cause of the problem – the main energy diversion valve.
This would be an impossible task for any other engineer. Just cleaning up this mess of wreckage would take several hours.
But Chu Hang is no ordinary engineer.
He stretched out his right hand, his five fingers spread.
【Space·Dividing】
An invisible force field swept across. The twisted and deformed metal debris was instantly and neatly severed, falling like building blocks to reveal the core pipe interface.
Then, he looked at a relatively intact spare alloy plate next to him.
【Space Shaping】
Under his mental control, the several-ton alloy plate, like a piece of clay, began to twist, fold, and stretch automatically. Within seconds, a completely new, more sophisticated main energy diversion valve materialized out of thin air.
He controlled the new valve, precisely connecting it to the cut pipe joint.
"The last step is energy calibration."
He closed his eyes; his talent as the [Number One Mage of the Nine Realms] made him incredibly sensitive to the flow of energy. He could "see" countless violent torrents of energy surging and crashing through the pipes.
He stretched out his hands and lightly pressed them on the pipe.
The power of the gods and the energy of the Cosmic Cube were activated simultaneously.
He used his own power as a guide, meticulously reweaving and rearranging those chaotic energy flows, bringing them back on track.
Tony was looking at that huge turbine blade with a headache.
"No, this thing is too heavy, the thrusters aren't powerful enough!" he yelled into the communicator. "I need more thrust!"
"I'm getting a team together to manually unlock the stuck bearing!" Steve's voice came through. "Hold on, Tony!"
Tony gritted his teeth, turned the armor's energy output to maximum, and used all his strength to push the metal fan blades back to their original position.
The armor emitted an alarm that indicated it was overwhelmed.
Just when he was about to give up, the huge turbine blades suddenly vibrated on their own.
A deep roar came from inside the engine.
Immediately afterwards, the jammed fan blades began to slowly, inch by inch, start to rotate. Although slow, they did move.
"He succeeded!" Tony exclaimed, both surprised and delighted.
The engines restarted, generating tremendous thrust, which halted the space carrier's descent.
With the help of the other three engines, the tilted ship began to slowly regain its stability.
The crisis is over.
Inside the core power compartment.
Chu Hang released his grip and let out a long breath.
He looked at the engine, which was now running smoothly again, his face expressionless.
Just then, he suddenly felt a familiar energy fluctuation.
It is the scepter of the soul.
The energy flashed by, heading towards... Loki's cell.
Chu Hang's heart sank, and his figure disappeared again.
By the time he arrived on the floor where the cell was located, it was too late.
Loki's glass cell was empty, leaving only a vision that looked exactly like him, smiling at the monitor.
At the end of the corridor, Phil Coulson lay in a pool of blood. A scepter pierced his chest—Loki's weapon.
Loki's figure had already disappeared into a activated teleportation device.
"Coulson!"
Chu Hang appeared beside him in a flash and crouched down.
Coulson's life was slipping away rapidly. He saw Chu Hang, but a smile forced onto his face.
“He…he’s going to Stark Tower…” Coulson coughed up blood as he spoke with difficulty, “He said…the view is best there…he wants to open a door…and let his army…in…”
"Stop talking." Chu Hang tried to use his energy to stabilize his injuries, but the power of the Mind Scepter was frantically destroying his life force, so it was useless.
“Tell the captain… I haven’t had him sign my card yet…” Coulson’s eyes began to glaze over. “And… don’t let Fury… use my death… to motivate them… that’s too cliché…”
His hand fell limply to his side.
Chu Hang stood there silently, looking into Coulson's lifeless eyes.
He slowly stood up and clenched his fists.
A chilling rage rose from the depths of his heart.
He wasn't saddened by Coulson's death; they weren't that close.
He was furious because that bastard Loki had tricked him right under his nose.
Just then, a gust of wind came from overhead.
Thor crashed through the ceiling and landed beside him, looking rather disheveled.
"I saw you knock him down." Thor stared at Coulson's corpse, his face grim. "Where's Loki?"
"They've run away." Chu Hang's voice was cold. "They've gone to New York and are planning to open a portal on top of Stark Tower to allow an alien army to invade Earth."
Tony and Steve ran over from the other end and were stunned when they saw Coulson's body.
“He killed Coulson,” Steve said, his voice laced with suppressed rage.
“He will pay the price.” Tony looked at his friend’s body, took off his helmet, and his eyes were cold.
Four people stood silently beside Coulson's body.
Chapter 107 The Battle of New York (Part 1)
The medical bay of the space carrier was very quiet.
Coulson lay on the bed, covered with a white sheet. Steve, Tony, Thor, and Natasha surrounded him, but no one spoke.
Nick Fury walked in, his steps heavy. He went to the bedside, stood for a moment, took a stack of cards from his pocket, and threw them on the table beside him.
The card was stained with dried blood, a dark red color.
“Phil’s collection,” Fury’s voice was hoarse, “Captain America’s autographed card. He’s always carried it with him, wanting your autograph, Steve.”
Steve's eyes flickered, and his lips pressed into a thin line.
“He believes in heroes.” Fury’s voice wasn’t loud, but every word was like a nail. “He believes in you. He believes that when a crisis comes, you will stand up and protect ordinary people.”
