Chapter 919 Life Must Go On

Chapter 919 Life Must Go On

The next day, when Peter woke up, he still felt like the events of the previous day were surreal. He really hadn't expected Gwen to be the one to make the decision. He himself was still hesitating, but Gwen took the initiative first.

In particular, the atmosphere at the time was something that was truly unavoidable.

So what should we do today?

After lying in bed for seven or eight minutes, Peter heard an emergency call from his receiver reporting a bank robbery. He immediately got up, covered his body with anti-venom and nanobots, and opened the window, intending to run away. Luckily, Peter glanced back at his room and quickly glued his backpack over his shoulder.

"I almost forgot, school just started yesterday, and I still have to go to school today."

So Peter opened the window and quickly left. After a while, Uncle Ben checked the time and thought it was time to eat, otherwise he would be late for school. So he went upstairs and knocked on Peter's door: "Peter? Still not awake? Peter? I'm opening the door."

Uncle Ben opened the door and found only the missing backpack and the open window. The alarm on the desk was still playing the police's internal communication: "[Suspect vehicle has turned onto 122nd Street, repeat, suspect vehicle has turned onto 122nd Street]."

Uncle Ben looked at the open window and sighed helplessly: "This kid—I hope he can buy some breakfast on the way."

Peter bought breakfast, and after purchasing "Spider-Man's favorite hot dog" once again, he quickly appeared above the street. Logically, the NYPD had already successfully implemented some upgrades and renovations, and theoretically, they shouldn't need to worry about half of the criminals and their equipment. Why were the alarms still going off?

Could it be that there's some new supervillain?

Of course, it turned out Peter was overthinking it. When he arrived at the scene, he didn't see any new supervillain. It was just a group of armed mercenaries driving armored vehicles rampaging through downtown New York City.

Downtown? A row of armored vehicles?

Peter, having confirmed he wasn't still half asleep, yawned, stuffed all the hot dogs into his mouth, and swung quickly toward that direction. The NYPD officers, chasing in their patrol cars but not daring to pursue too closely, saw an entire armored vehicle being pulled into the air by spider webs, then tightly bound between several buildings by the webs.

The officer driving asked his partner in the passenger seat, "Spider-Man's hung the armored vehicles in the air, how are we going to get these things down?"

His partner looked at him with utter bewilderment: "Of course Spider-Man should take it down. You think he doesn't offer after-sales service?"

As the second armored vehicle took off, the armed mercenaries in front noticed the problem. Soon, some people poked their heads out of the skylights and windows, but the first wave of spider web bullets falling from the sky covered the faces of a group of people. A few people who were not covered in the face raised their guns and tried to aim at Spider-Man, who was swinging around in mid-air. Then, the next second, they found that the muzzle of their guns was blocked by spider web bullets.

Peter hooked onto the rear of two armored vehicles with his webs and landed. As the armored vehicles sped forward, Spider-Man remained completely still, and the road beneath his feet was not damaged at all. He simply hooked onto the two armored vehicles and forcibly pulled them to a stop.

When the police arrived, they only saw the mercenary glued to the armored vehicle, and the armored vehicle itself parked there. The officer driving then asked his partner, "Will Spider-Man help us drive the car back?"

"Shut up." His partner rolled his eyes at him and straightened his hat. "There's still one car left. Get ready to take all these people back first."

As for Peter, he was simply focused on chasing the last armored vehicle. After quickly approaching, Peter sensed a slight movement from his spider-sense, so he simultaneously released his aura and shadow vision, then performed a backflip to dodge a punch that pierced through the armored vehicle's roof.

It was a metal fist that pierced through thick steel plates. Then, the entire top of the armored vehicle was torn apart, and a man wearing half-covered steel armor rushed out. Peter quickly realized one thing—he didn't recognize the guy at all, or at least had no recollection of him.

Peter even had time to use spider webs to stick the armored vehicle's six wheels shut, ensuring it was stuck in place and unable to move. Then Peter glanced at the vehicle and the half-covered armor on the guy's body, and tentatively asked, "I think what you're wearing is what you took from the bank, right? Tony Stark opened up the principles and technology of the Arc Reactor, and now there are pirated Iron Mans everywhere."

"I'm not a bootleg Iron Man, I'm—the Steel Man!"

"Colossus is from DC, buddy. Before you name him, please check if there are any characters with the same name, okay? Like Titan or something. Oh, wait, maybe there really is a Titan now." Peter said, using his webs to stick the other person's fist to the webs. Watching the other person go all out to break free of the webs, he yawned boredly.

The so-called Iron Man discovered he couldn't even break free from Spider-Man's webs, so Peter started chatting with him: "Wait a minute, do your family know you're doing this kind of work? Do you have a girlfriend? Or a wife? Is it really okay for you to do this behind her back? Isn't she worried about you?"

Upon hearing this, the other person flew into a rage: "I don't have a girlfriend! I don't have a wife!"

After saying that, he actually became angry and clever, finally using his other hand to cut the spider silk. Peter was taken aback, so he shot out spider silk from both hands, which stuck to the other's hands: "I'm really sorry, I didn't expect this topic to hurt you so much. Um, how about we change the subject? For example, did you tell your mother? Won't she worry about you? You can't possibly not even have a mother, can you?!"

A few minutes later, the police finally arrived. They looked at Spider-Man, who had gone back to put down the other two armored vehicles, and then at the mercenary leader lying on the ground, his arc reactor dismantled and covered in spider webs.

The sheriff leading the team bent down and pulled a note from the guy's mouth. It contained Spider-Man's kind advice.

This man has no mother and is very pitiful. I hope the police officers can treat him kindly.

As for Peter, well, he went to school, of course; after all, he's a student. Luckily, the emergency that morning allowed him to distract himself from Gwen's situation; otherwise, he probably would have remained in a daze until Uncle Ben came to wake him.

"Okay, a new day has begun, that's about it."
