Chapter 2 Double Happiness
Chapter 2 Double Happiness
When everything was ready, and only the low hum of the instruments and the hiss of energy flow remained in the center of the laboratory, Professor Perot finally put down the other preparations he was making.
He walked to the head of the experimental table and took out the heart that Hick had seen several times before from his storage ring.
The heart was in a glass petri dish, and the energy reactions released from it were firmly confined by the petri dish. Hick knew that this was Pello's mentor's goal.
A perfect heart transplant is what Professor Pelosi urgently needs now, and it's the only thing she needs.
If the heart transplant is successful, Mentor Perot will be able to become a Level Two Wizard.
This is why Pello used his apprentices for experiments, but the Wizard Tower did not stop him.
In their view, exchanging some wizard apprentices for a second-level wizard was a very worthwhile deal.
Pelosi's movements were very gentle. With her movements, Number Six's heart was removed and casually discarded to the side.
Under the guidance of Instructor Perot, the culture dish heart slowly floated into Number Six's chest, and with Instructor Perot's subsequent actions, the quiet heart slowly began to beat.
Hick stood at a slightly distant observation and recording position, holding a recording tablet and a rune pen, forcing his gaze to focus on Number Six, like a true, indifferent observer.
Suddenly, Number Six's body arched upwards! The restraints were stretched to their limit, making a teeth-grinding friction sound.
He couldn't make a sound, but a tearing, silent roar burst from his throat.
Hick knew that the rejection reaction had begun.
"Vital signs are rising rapidly! Heart rate is exceeding capacity! Blood pressure is off the charts! Magic source... Magic source is fluctuating violently!"
Hick stared at the glowing spot on the monitor, reporting the data at the fastest possible pace. Each number coldly testified to a life enduring unimaginable torture.
Upon hearing Hick's data, Instructor Perot remained calm and took out the No. 5 fusion fluid, slowly injecting it into No. 6's body.
As Fusion Fluid No. 5 was injected, Instructor Pero and Hick kept their eyes fixed on the struggling No. 6. They knew that success or failure depended on this Fusion Fluid No. 5.
After a while, Number Six moved less and less until his body stopped moving.
Upon seeing this, Hick quickly reported the data from the monitoring station:
"Vital signs are stabilizing, heart rate is slightly above target, blood pressure is also stable, and magic source... is stable."
Hickek felt that this time, it was probably a success, as this was data that had never been seen in previous experiments.
Sure enough, as soon as Hick finished speaking, the usually quiet and composed Professor Perot could no longer contain his emotions and quickly walked to the experimental table.
On the experimental table, Number Six, who was like a corpse, suddenly began to struggle violently. His eyes, which had turned crimson, opened, and he let out incomprehensible roars and low moans.
"Vital signs are rising sharply again! Heart rate is overloaded! Blood pressure is off the charts! Emotional fluctuations are violent, and the target is showing strong aggression! Pupil structure has changed, confirming bestial characteristics!"
Sensing something was amiss, Hick immediately reported to his superior.
For the first time, Professor Pelosi's brows furrowed genuinely.
He stared intently at the monster transforming on the experimental table, then glanced at the empty crystal tube in his hand, which still held a trace of pale green liquid.
"Fusing Fluid No. 5... failed to balance its will? Or... is the will of this heart itself too strong?"
Professor Pelosi's voice was low and urgent, as if she were questioning herself.
"Mentor Pero! The restraints are about to fail!" Hick couldn't help but remind his mentor when he didn't react.
Upon hearing Hick's reminder, Instructor Perot casually cast a spell, and the previously berserk Number Six lay there quietly, motionless.
Then, with a slight smile on her lips, Instructor Perot said:
"Although the process was a bit bumpy, we finally succeeded!"
These words left Hick speechless. If number six was like that, how could it be considered a success?
The mentor, Perot, who seemed to sense Hick's confusion, explained:
"Even after treatment, the will within the heart of a Level 1 being is beyond the capacity of an apprentice to withstand."
At this point, Professor Pelosi's smile deepened, "But if the transplant is successful, I won't be affected."
Upon hearing this, Hick understood. His mentor, Perot, wanted to resolve the body's rejection reaction, and it seemed that he had succeeded.
As for mental pollution? Would a second-level wizard like Pero be afraid of mental pollution from a processed first-level creature?
"Alright, I declare the experiment a success!"
As soon as Professor Perot finished speaking, a voice appeared in Hick's mind.
Experimental Project: Perfect Heart Transplant.
Experiment objective: To resolve Pero Heath's (mentor's) heart problem and achieve the status of a second-level wizard.
Experiment proceeded smoothly!
Experiment result: Success.
Participation rate in the experiment: 18%.
Experiment difficulty: 1+.
Experiment score: 36.
Upon hearing the voice in his mind, Hick felt a surge of immense joy. Did he... have a system now?
In Hick's eyes, the wizarding world was originally a giant man wielding a sword, and Hick never knew when he would be killed.
Now, the wizarding world is like a budding maiden, gazing at him with tender affection, and Hick feels... there's hope!
Just as Hick was overflowing with excitement, his mentor, Perot, turned around and saw Hick's expression, and was immediately filled with immense satisfaction.
The experiment was a success, and he, a candidate and assistant chosen from among wizard apprentices and possessing a bit of anatomical talent, was actually so happy.
It seems that after spending time together, this apprentice truly loves and respects me.
"Hick," Professor Perot's voice softened slightly.
The call was like a thunderclap, instantly bringing Hickra back to reality. He quickly composed himself and respectfully replied, "Mentor Perot."
Looking at the respectful young man before him, Professor Perot showed a rare hint of approval: "From this day forward, you may address me as 'Professor'."
After saying this, he waved his sleeve, took the sixth experimental subject and key experimental items, and disappeared instantly.
Hick stood there for a moment, stunned, and then a feeling of double happiness welled up in his heart!
He immediately bowed deeply in the direction his mentor had disappeared, his voice filled with unprecedented respect and excitement:
"Disciple Hick respectfully bids farewell to his master!"
In the hierarchical world of wizards, whether or not the word "mentor" is preceded by a title makes a world of difference in meaning.
Referring to him as "Mentor Pelosi" implies that it is just an ordinary teacher-student relationship arranged by the organization.
Being able to address someone as "mentor" signifies that they have been formally accepted into the fold and become a true disciple of the mentor!
Knowing that his mentor was gone for good, Hick was pleasantly surprised and the bloody and cruel laboratory around him no longer seemed so jarring.
Hick knew that starting today, he would have a mentor who would soon become a second-grade wizard, and a source of confidence for the future.
