In the darkness, their breathing became rapid, and an indescribable ambiguity filled the air.
"Takada-senpai...you...you're still awake?" Sato Miwako broke the silence first, her voice trembling slightly.
Yuuki Takada cleared his throat, trying to make his voice sound calmer:
"Hmm, I'm not sleepy at all, not very tired."
"Wait... if he says that, doesn't that mean that all the things she did just now were known to Takada-senpai?" Sato Miwako bit her lip, the scene in the movie theater flashing through her mind again, and her face instantly turned red.
However, he remained silent, and Sato Miwako was unlikely to bring up this embarrassing matter.
"Thank you for taking care of me today."
she whispered.
Looking at her shy expression, Yuuki Takada felt a pang of emotion and couldn't help but reach out and gently pat her head: "Sato, why are you being so polite with me?"
Sato Miwako's heart suddenly raced. She instinctively tried to avoid Takada Yuki's hand, but accidentally touched his arm.
The touch of their skin felt like an electric current, causing them both to tremble slightly.
“Um…” Sato Miwako hesitated for a moment, but still mustered up the courage to ask, “Do you think what happened at the movie theater today was strange?”
Yuki Takada was slightly taken aback; he hadn't expected Miwako Sato to bring this up suddenly.
His gaze lingered on Miwako Sato's face for a moment, then he said seriously, "Actually... I don't find it strange at all."
Sato Miwako looked at him in surprise, her eyes full of doubt.
"Don't worry, I know my limits and won't cross the line. I know you want the free movie tickets and that nice souvenir. So Sato, you should just go to sleep." Takada Yuuki made up a bunch of nonsense.
As for Sato Miwako in the present moment, he knew that if things continued, she might say something inexplicable.
"I really won't do anything to you. We're just resting here for the night, and we'll leave tomorrow."
Sato Miwako felt a warm current surge in her heart upon hearing Takada Yuki's words.
She turned around, looked at Yuuki Takada's back, and whispered:
"Takada-senpai, I know you're a good person, but I... I've never spent the night in a room with a boy before, so I'm a little nervous."
Yuuki Takada smiled and said, "I understand, don't worry."
"Sato, did you have fun last night?" Takada Yuki couldn't help but ask tentatively, but after waiting for a long time, there was no response.
Turning around, I found that Sato Miwako was sleeping soundly with a sweet smile on her face.
Yuuki Takada didn't disturb her, and gently tucked her in with a blanket.
Chapter 79 Gratitude
Fortunately, Sato Miwako's fever had subsided by the next morning.
Relieved, Yuuki Takada retrieved some ingredients from the refrigerator and then busied himself in the kitchen.
A slight noise came from the kitchen. Takada Yuuki skillfully cooked a bowl of white porridge and also made a bowl of hangover soup.
He moved swiftly, clearly not for the first time preparing this food.
Sato Miwako woke up groggily, and the chaotic and embarrassing memories of last night instantly flooded back, making her unable to resist burying her face in the pillow that still carried the faint scent of Takada Yuuki.
"Ah... I actually got taken care of by Takada-senpai all night..." she groaned softly, but deep down there was a hint of sweetness that she couldn't ignore.
"Awake?" Yuuki Takada's voice came from the doorway. He was carrying a plate with simple Japanese congee on it. "How are you feeling? The fever should be completely gone, right?" He walked closer and naturally reached out to touch her forehead.
The cool touch of his fingers made Sato Miwako flinch like a startled rabbit, her eyes darting away, unable to look him in the eye.
"N-It's alright!"
"I feel much better now! Thank you, Takada-senpai!" She practically snatched the plate and buried her head in her food, trying to mask her panic with the food.
Yuuki Takada looked at her bright red ear tips, a hint of a smile flashing in his eyes, but he quickly suppressed it.
He pulled up a chair and sat down beside her, his tone regaining its usual calm: "That's good. Also, there's a bowl of hangover soup that's just been simmering in the kitchen. You can have Yumi drink it after he wakes up."
"Hangover soup?" Sato Miwako immediately looked up, a bright light flashing in her eyes, and asked softly, "No, Takada-senpai, you also prepared hangover soup for Yumi?"
“Yes, I saw those things in the refrigerator,” Yuuki Takada quickly explained. “Luckily it’s the weekend. Remember to take your medicine after you finish your porridge.”
“No problem!” Sato Miwako replied immediately, finishing her breakfast quickly and elegantly.
After briefly explaining some important points to Sato Miwako, Takada Yuki left Miyamoto Yumi's apartment alone.
Not long after Takada Yuki left, Miyamoto Yumi rubbed her sleepy eyes, her hair disheveled, and staggered out of the guest room.
"Miwako... what time is it?"
"My head... feels like it's been run over by a truck..." Miyamoto Yumi said hoarsely, walking weakly out of the bedroom before collapsing onto the sofa, clutching her forehead and groaning.
Miwako Sato had already cleared away the dishes and was now taking her medicine with a glass of water.
Seeing her friend's miserable state, she felt both sorry for him and amused: "Who told you to drink so much last night? Now you know how bad it is?"
"Knowing full well that he couldn't hold his liquor, he still drank so much."
Then, Sato Miwako pointed towards the kitchen, "Takada-senpai, I made you some hangover soup before you left. It's keeping warm in the kitchen. I'll go get it for you."
"Hangover soup?" Miyamoto Yumi's eyes widened suddenly, and she struggled to sit up. "Takada-senpai?"
“Last night… oh right! I remember now! He was the one who brought us back! He even… made a hangover soup?!” Her tone was full of disbelief.
but……
Recalling her hazy state last night, it seems that Miyamoto Yumi really did consider the man in front of her as her boyfriend for a while.
Miwako Sato brought out a white porcelain bowl from the kitchen. The bowl contained warm soup, which emitted a faint, warm aroma with a hint of medicinal herbs.
"Yes, he cooked some plain porridge and prepared this for you as well."
Yumi Miyamoto took the bowl, the warmth of the porcelain bowl warming her palms. She looked down at the clear, non-greasy soup in the bowl, paused for a few seconds, and then took a big gulp.
The warm, fragrant liquid slid down my throat and into my stomach, spreading a warm sensation that seemed to instantly relieve the nausea and headache.
"Wow—!!!" Miyamoto Yumi exclaimed dramatically, her eyes lighting up. "This is so delicious! Is this really a hangover soup?"
"This is simply the most amazing and delicious hangover soup I've ever had! It's not bitter at all, and it even has a very pleasant aftertaste!"
As if she had discovered a new continent, she hugged the bowl and drank several more mouthfuls, then began to praise it endlessly:
"Takada-senpai is amazing! He's skilled in combat, intelligent, a first-rate detective, and even his cooking is incredible! He's practically the perfect man!"
"Miwako, did you see that?! The cooking time and the flavor of this soup are absolutely expert! It tastes even better than my mom's!"
"How could he be so thoughtful? He even prepared a set for me too! Waaah... Takada-senpai is such a kind person! So considerate and thoughtful!"
"Handsome, calm, and caring...does this kind of man really exist?"
"Miwako, what incredible luck you had to meet such a senior!"
While slurping down her soup, Miyamoto Yumi continued to shower Takada Yuki with praise, extolling him to the skies.
As Sato Miwako listened, her cheeks involuntarily began to burn again.
Every time Yumi Miyamoto praised him, the image of Yuki Takada's composed demeanor would involuntarily appear in her mind.
Recalling those fragments from last night that seemed to exist only in his memory... he was taking steps towards reality.
"No... Yumi, aren't you exaggerating?"
"Yumi! Stop talking! Finish your soup!" Sato Miwako tried to interrupt Yumi's enthusiastic praise, her voice tinged with embarrassment.
"I'm just stating the facts!" Miyamoto Yumi put down her empty bowl, licked her lips with a lingering satisfaction, then leaned closer to Sato Miwako, nudging her with her elbow in a wink, "Eh..."
"Seriously, Takada-senpai, did you...?"
"Hmm? Special treatment, huh? You even made porridge for you...tsk tsk tsk."
"W-What nonsense are you talking about!" Sato Miwako's face instantly turned red to the roots of her neck, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. She immediately explained, "Takada-senpai is just a kind person and takes care of everyone! And it's because I have a fever!"
"Really?"
Seeing her flustered state, Miyamoto Yumi laughed like a cat that had just stolen some cream, teasing, "Just because you're 'a nice person'?"
"Why have I never seen anyone cook porridge or soup for me and then deliver it to my home?"
"Sigh, some people really don't know how lucky they are!"
"Yumi!!"
The apartment echoed with Yumi Miyamoto's mocking laughter and Miwako Sato's embarrassed and angry protests.
……
After playing around for a while, the two packed up all their things and, seeing that the weather was nice outside, decided to go out for a stroll together.
Just as Sato Miwako and Miyamoto Yumi stepped out, they heard the old man next door chatting with his friends.
"Oh my, you have no idea, that man last night was truly so touching..."
"...He didn't sleep at night and came to my house several times to ask if I had any fever reducers. It's a pity that the old man was out of fever reducers, otherwise I would have definitely given them to him."
"In the end, I saw it firsthand: that guy went to several pharmacies before he finally bought the fever reducer for the sick girl."
"That girl is so lucky to have such a good boy taking care of her," another voice said.
Upon seeing Yumi Miyamoto, the old man next door smiled and said, "Yumi, you are the child I watched grow up. Don't let his kindness go to waste."
Upon hearing this, Miyamoto Yumi quickly realized what was going on and laughed, "Of course, of course... don't worry."
Sato Miwako paused, a sudden warmth spreading through her heart.
She slowly walked out of the building, the image of his anxious appearance from last night flashing through her mind, making her feel a little embarrassed for a moment.
As dawn broke, the soft light shone on her face, casting a faint blush.
"Can't you tell?" Miyamoto Yumi said softly as she caught up with Sato Miwako. "Miwako, I didn't expect so much to have happened between you two last night?"
"No, Yumi, aren't you going to explain this to me?" Sato Miwako looked at Miyamoto Yumi with a puzzled expression.
“Forget it…” Miyamoto Yumi shook her head. “There’s no need to explain anything. Once these old men have made up their minds, no matter how much you explain, it won’t make a difference. It’s better to just accept it.”
"Perhaps in a few days, they will forget about it."
Looking at Sato Miwako in front of her, Miyamoto Yumi couldn't help but advise, "Miwako, why don't you call Takada-senpai now?"
"Ah..." Sato Miwako was at a loss for what to do.
