Chapter 61 Brainwaves
Chapter 61 Brainwaves
The following morning, Wei Hongsi ate breakfast in his dormitory and then rode his bicycle to the company.
This is his second consecutive weekend working overtime, and there's quite a lot to handle, so his planned leisure activities are probably going to be canceled.
I arrived at the company building at just nine o'clock, which is about the same time as my usual workday.
Upon entering the lobby on the first floor, I saw more than a dozen people from our company waiting there, but I only recognized Lu Jiaqi, Miao Rui, and Wang Kang.
Lu Jiaqi was standing in front of the door when she saw Wei Hongsi come in, and said to him, "President Ji and the others will be here soon."
"Oh, then I'll wait for him too." Upon hearing this, Wei Hongsi decided not to rush up.
He exchanged a few words with Lu Jiaqi, then went over to greet Miao Rui and Wang Kang.
This time, Ji Cheng led a team to conduct on-site testing, which is considered a new collaboration. Miao Rui, as the director of Department Eight, was waiting there as a courtesy. The testing location was a laboratory in Department Six, where Wang Kang, the deputy director, was responsible for guidance and testing arrangements, so he was also waiting downstairs.
Each of the two brought seven or eight employees from their respective departments, and their tasks had been coordinated in advance; they were just waiting for the test subjects to arrive. Since the amusement park was paying to deliver data, they naturally had to show it the utmost respect.
Wei Hongsi is new to the company, and it's basic workplace etiquette for him to greet these two people, especially since he's interacted with them recently. He's had a lot of work-related conversations with Wang Kang, in particular. If they didn't know him at all, there would be no need for him to make the effort to approach them.
Miao Rui and Wang Kang were very friendly to Wei Hongsi, and their attitude was not like that of a leader to an ordinary employee, but more like a greeting between equal colleagues.
This amazed the other employees in the lobby.
Several members of Lu Jiaqi's work group present knew that Wei Hongsi was an engineer in the second department, but they were unaware of his background. However, Wei Hongsi's youth was obvious, suggesting he hadn't been working there for many years, which inevitably led to some speculation about his background.
Not long after, the park's bus arrived and stopped at the entrance of the lobby on the first floor.
Ji Cheng stepped down and first shook hands with Miao Rui and Wang Kang, saying, "I'm really sorry, there was a bit of traffic on the way."
After greeting the two leaders from Zhiwei, Ji Cheng then shook hands with Lu Jiaqi and Wei Hongsi, with whom he had a good relationship, showing proper courtesy. Lu Jiaqi did not introduce the others, so there was no need for that.
While the two sides exchanged pleasantries, the park staff disembarked from the bus and lined up in the lobby. There were more than forty people in total, arranged in four columns, with a person in charge of leading each column, making it appear very orderly.
Ji Cheng sent the personnel information to Lu Jiaqi when he set off in the morning.
Of the 42 people to be tested in the first batch, 29 had shown resistance during the previous test of Plan B, making up the vast majority of the abnormal subjects. The 13 people who did not show resistance were mostly Ji Cheng's direct subordinates, including the young men Wei Hongsi had seen on the ship last night.
The Zhiwei team led them to a pre-prepared meeting room on the 11th floor, gave each person a number, and then the groups of 10 entered the designated laboratory to begin the first round of screening.
The screening method involves showing them the restored original image of Plan B while monitoring their brainwave changes. The equipment used captures electrical signals with millisecond-level precision, recording instantaneous changes in brain neuron activity in real time.
Many people develop varying degrees of aversion to repetitive tasks that don't yield tangible benefits. Therefore, each round of monitoring shouldn't be too long, around 4 minutes, which is the time it takes to play the original video 3 times. Then, let that group rest and switch to the next group.
The first round of screening took about half an hour, and the relevant data was subsequently compiled and sent to the IR1 project team.
Then the second and third rounds began...
After watching the first round of screenings conclude, Wei Hongsi returned to his temporary office to analyze and organize the received data.
The focus is still on the delta wave, amygdala, and prefrontal cortex data. All those with abnormal fluctuations are marked and compared with the simulation analysis data on CMS. The simulation data with a similarity of over 98% can be matched, which initially verifies the credibility of CMS simulation analysis.
As the number of screening rounds increases, the error will further decrease, and the matching degree between the two should be even higher.
Wei Hongsi took out Ji Cheng's test data and compared it with the results of the first round of screening. He found that the error was larger than expected. Several people who had not been recorded as having antagonistic tendencies showed obvious abnormalities during the screening, such as Chen Haoyu; while several people who were recorded as having antagonistic tendencies had normal screening data.
Therefore, Wei Hongsi had some doubts about the abnormal subject ratio data of Ji Cheng's test, and also had some concerns about the CMS simulation analysis data, because the two were very close.
Of course, it's too early to draw conclusions now. Comparing data from only one round of screening could lead to significant errors. Furthermore, we need to wait until all participants have been tested before we can make any definitive statements.
Wei Hongsi was looking at the data when Lu Jiaqi called him, saying that Ji Cheng wanted to talk to him about something.
Remembering the list Ji Cheng mentioned yesterday, Wei Hongsi guessed it must be about this matter and prepared to go downstairs. However, Lu Jiaqi said that if it was convenient for him, Ji Cheng wanted to come up.
Wei Hongsi didn't mind, so he agreed and went to wait in the elevator.
A moment later, the elevator doors opened, and Lu Jiaqi and Ji Cheng came up together. Wei Hongsi led the two to the temporary office.
Lu Jiaqi was greatly surprised. This office was even bigger than hers, and it must have belonged to a senior manager or project manager.
Wei Hongsi noticed the change in her expression and whispered, "It's just a temporary spot for me. My seat is still in the lobby."
Lu Jiaqi smiled and said, "President Ji, you two chat first, I'm going to the 11th floor."
Ji Cheng said, "Okay, okay, I'll come find you later."
Lu Jiaqi came out and walked towards the elevator. She thought to herself, "The company-assigned offices, unless they're for people sent by external partners, are never temporary. Even if they are temporary, this Engineer Wei is no ordinary person."
She recalled Wang Kang's attitude towards Wei Hongsi in the lobby that morning. Suddenly, she realized that what Wei Hongsi had said last night wasn't just casual talk.
In Wei Hongsi's temporary office, Ji Cheng opened his briefcase and took out a file folder: "This is the report compiled by our finance department."
Wei Hongsi took it and found it to be a complete report. He asked, "Is this to be given to the police?"
"Yes, I've contacted the police, and I'll deliver it to them this afternoon," Ji Cheng nodded. "If there's anything you'd like to see, you can take pictures with your phone."
Wei Hongsi thought to himself, "What a coincidence! I'm also going to the police station this afternoon." However, he knew that the two of them would definitely be going at different times.
