Chapter 34 Written Test
Chapter 34 Written Test
The moment Boruto and his three friends stepped into the examination venue, they felt countless malicious gazes fixed on them.
The place was packed with people and bustling with activity, and all the other newlyweds from Konoha Village this year were also there.
"Yo! Boruto, long time no see." Just then, a ninja walked towards Boruto and greeted him. It was none other than Kabuto Yakushi, whom he had parted ways with at the Ninja Academy.
"Boruto, do you know him?" Naruto asked in a low voice, nudging Boruto with his elbow.
Boruto nodded and replied, "Of course I know him. Kabuto told me about the Chunin Exams. He has a lot of experience with the Chunin Exams."
Kabuto laughed and said, "Hahaha, Boruto, you flatter me too much. Although I do have some experience with the Chunin Exams, this is my seventh time taking them this year, and I failed the previous six times."
It's important to know that the Chunin Exams are only held twice a year, and this is his fourth year participating.
Nara Shikamaru became even less motivated upon hearing this: "Are the Chunin Exams really that difficult? Honestly, this is getting more and more troublesome."
"Well then, I'll tell you a little bit of information, my lovely juniors." Kabuto Yakushi took out a stack of cards from his pocket and said, "Use this Ninja Sense Card in my hand."
Boruto looked puzzled: "Ninja ID Card? What's that?"
Seeing everyone's confused expressions, Kabuto Yakushi smiled and explained, "The Ninja Sense Card contains the number of examinees from each ninja village, as well as their detailed personal information and individual abilities. With it, you can better understand your competitors."
As he spoke, Kabuto began to show them information on some ninjas who had performed exceptionally well in the Chunin Exams and were expected to become Chunin.
One of them caught everyone's attention—Gaara of the Sands.
“Look, this is Gaara of the Sands.” Kabuto Yakushi said, pointing to the Ninja Cards. “Although he’s about your age, he’s already a master who has completed a B-rank mission! And I heard that he always comes back unscathed from every mission.”
Boruto glanced at Naruto beside him and saw that he was clenching his fists tightly and his body was trembling slightly, but he did not think that Naruto was afraid because his opponent was too strong.
Based on Boruto's understanding of Naruto, he knew very well that Naruto was probably more excited than anything else at that moment.
"I am Naruto Uzumaki! I will not lose to you! Understand?" Naruto suddenly pointed at all the examinees on the field and said.
Boruto was taken aback. Wasn't this going too far with the excitement? It was more like a deliberate provocation! But... I actually quite like this feeling!
As expected, Naruto's arrogant and domineering behavior successfully aroused the anger and dissatisfaction of the people around him.
Just as Boruto was about to imitate Naruto and shout out, he keenly noticed several unusual figures flashing past in the crowd.
He immediately became alert, quickly shut his mouth, and then used the Shadow Clone Technique to summon multiple clones, protecting the others behind him.
At the same time, the Sound Ninja launched a fierce attack, with one of them throwing a punch at Boruto's clone.
Boruto's clone narrowly dodged the attack by sidestepping.
Standing to the side, Sasuke secretly analyzed, "Hmm, with my eyesight, I can still see their movement speed clearly. These ninjas seem to be quite ordinary in strength, far inferior to Rock Lee."
However, at that moment, the situation suddenly changed unexpectedly, and Boruto's clone vanished in an instant as a puff of smoke.
Not only that, the other clones did the same thing, turning into wisps of smoke and disappearing one after another.
Sasuke was astonished: "How is this possible! I clearly didn't get hit!" He couldn't see what technique his opponent had used at all.
Boruto frowned deeply, and using the feedback transmitted back when the shadow clones dissipated, he successfully obtained some key information.
Before the shadow clone disappeared, Boruto heard an extremely piercing sound wave, and then he felt as if his auditory nerves had been paralyzed.
Boruto immediately went on high alert and quickly warned the others: "Everyone be careful! This ferocious guy in front of us, whose entire head is wrapped in bandages and only his left eye is showing, has the ability to attack with sonic waves!"
Tosu Kinu sneered at Boruto with a ferocious grin, "Haha, kid, you've got a pretty sharp reflex, figuring out my attack method so quickly. But so what if you knew? Do you think you can withstand my attack?"
Boruto retorted without flinching, "Hmph, that's not necessarily true! How will we know the outcome if we don't try?"
However, just as the situation was about to deteriorate further, a large number of people suddenly appeared on the field.
The bald, scarred leader shouted, "What are you doing! Do you want to be eliminated immediately?! No fighting without the examiner's permission!"
"And even if it's permitted, you can't take actions that could kill the other person. Any idiots who dare to disobey me will be eliminated immediately! Do you understand?"
Naruto curled his lip. They didn't show up when they were attacked by the Sound Ninja, but now that we're preparing to counterattack, they've appeared. It's like they're just saying that after the fact.
"Once you pass your first exam, you'll have plenty of opportunities to settle your scores. For now, you'd better stay put."
Ibiki Morino's gaze swept over all the examinees present: "Let me introduce myself first. I am Ibiki Morino, the examiner for the first Chunin Selection exam."
When Naruto learned that the first exam was a written test, his face instantly turned extremely pale, as if he had suffered a huge blow.
For him, the written test was a nightmare; in comparison, performing a C-level mission was much easier.
To make matters worse, everyone was seated separately, which meant that no one could help him with the written test.
Ibiki Morino loudly announced the official start of the first written test and explained several important rules in detail.
"First of all, the first rule is that the exam starts with ten points. The written test consists of ten questions, each worth one point. Then the exam uses a deduction system, where one point is deducted for each wrong question. If you get three questions wrong, you will be left with seven points."
Naruto nodded: Well then... if you get all ten questions wrong, you'll only get 0 points.
"Rule Two: Whether a team passes or fails is determined by the total score of the team."
After hearing this, Boruto looked worried. Although his academic level was good in the future, times had changed, and he didn't know if the test content would be the same. He figured that getting more than half the points would be enough.
At the same time, he secretly rejoiced, because Sakura's academic performance had always been excellent, and Sasuke's was not bad either.
They would definitely be able to make up for the points they and their fathers lost. Thinking of this, Boruto turned to look at Sasuke and Sakura.
When Sasuke and Sakura felt Boruto's gaze, their inner monologue was: Yeah! We're a group of four! And Boruto's here too, he can still score points for us! Even if Naruto gets zero points, it's okay.
This way, Naruto's disadvantage can be made up for! Sasuke and Sakura felt a little more at ease, and they both gave Boruto approving looks and nodded.
Boruto was thrilled after receiving their responses: "It's a sure thing!!!"
