Chapter 354 Blending In
Chapter 354 Blending In
'The fuck is this woman talking about,' I sighed to myself. I had just arrived, and now she wanted me to travel again. Talk about being a slave driver!
'I thought I was evil, but this place humbled me,' I added.
"This is a great opportunity for you. You're getting old, but you haven't had any significant achievements yet. If you want to extend your life, you must prove yourself first. And what better place to do it than at Asia's main HQ in Shanghai?" she started spouting bullshit words of encouragement.
I feel like one of those poor office souls, shuttled around from place to place. They endured the classic "You've got this" or "You're the chosen one because you're so good" speeches.
"Can I reject the offer?" I asked.
The temptation to use my teleportation to snatch the card and take control of her crossed my mind, but this place might have security measures that could detect spatial interference.
Relying on my knowledge from the Seoul Branch security to assess this place could turn out to be a very bad idea, so it was better to be careful than sorry.
"Are you really going to reject this opportunity? Think about your promotion," she insisted.
'Freaking liar. You came here in the first place because it was so tough to get a promotion in Shanghai. And now you plan to send me there? To do what? To rot?' I thought to myself.
'Calm yourself, Zyden. Just follow the script and act natural,' I muttered, taking a moment to control my emotions.
"Can you give me some time to think?" I shifted the conversation.
Knowing her personality, she would keep pestering me if I said no. It was better to ask for some time to think about it. Besides, I planned to be bolder in this place after my Mind Power got back to normal, so I just needed to stall for time.
"I will give you 3 days, then I'll offer this big opportunity to someone else. Think about it carefully. You can leave now," she declared.
'Three days?' A smile formed on my face. That was the time remaining before the restrictions on my Mind Power were lifted.
'Old hag, I will make you suffer after those 3 days,' I mocked her inwardly before turning away and leaving the room.
Considering our underground location, the room felt surprisingly spacious. I remembered hearing about regular agents enduring cramped quarters, sharing rooms with up to six people.
Satisfaction welled up in me as I realized I should thank Joon for securing me a comfortable place to stay while I schemed to take control of this whole place and rescue my mother.
I stepped further into the room, and on the right, I saw another space spanning around 10 square meters. I could tell it was the kitchen from the presence of various appliances.
But, I was more interested in the other door beside it. Walking towards it, I turned the knob and pushed it open. There, I saw my bedroom, around 15 square meters, the same size as my living room. A large bed was there, and a 60-inch TV stood in front of it.
*PUFF
I lay on the bed and sighed. Physically, I was still full of energy, but mentally, I felt drained with all the tasks awaiting me in this place.
'This place is pretty boring now that I think about it,' I sighed to myself.
No matter how cozy this place was designed to be, it still felt lacking to me. There were no consoles to play with.
Although there was a computer right beside my bed, I was quite sure it had limited access, and I doubted that Joon guy played games at his age.
'Alright, I need to stop wasting time and start finding a way to hack into their network,' I said to myself, standing up and preparing to get to work.
Hacking here would be much more challenging, especially given the powerful AI in this place.
I sat on my office chair and began entering my password when suddenly—
DING DONG.
"A visitor?" I mused aloud, not anticipating one so soon. With my curiosity piqued, I opened my TV to check the CCTV feed and identify my unexpected guest.
"Jackpot!," I chuckled aloud after glimpsing the figure outside.
It was a beautiful woman, boasting a curvy body, brown hair cascading down, and eyes that held an alluring gaze. It was Joon's niece—or should I say, my niece?
