Chapter Thirty-Nine: Baku Severely Wounded and in a Coma
Just as Mu Chong's grip tightened, a gust of wind swept through the street. The spring evening wind in Mogu Town was somewhat chilly, and its sound against the utterly silent street was so mournful.
"No reason to kill!!"
After hesitating for a moment, Mu Chong released his grip, which he had only half-closed. The enormous sphere of ruins in front of him shattered with a deafening roar as he released his hand, and the already dying Jora fell out from the center.
"Let's go, old man!"
Mu Chong walked to Schidek, who had been waiting nearby, without turning his head, and said something, completely ignoring the increasingly noisy street behind him.
"Meow!!!"
"Brother Mu, aren't you going to kill him?"
Schidek glanced at Jora, who had already been picked up by his men, and asked softly.
"Ah! There's no reason! Let's just leave it at that!"
Mu Chong shook his head in response, then squatted down to look at Slad and Bellamy, who were wrapped up like mummies, before turning to look at the doctor who was bandaging them.
"How badly are they injured? How long will it take for them to recover?"
"My lord, their injuries are quite serious, especially Lord Slad's. It will take three or four days for him to fully recover!"
The thin doctor, wearing a hat and with a fawning expression, immediately responded.
"Okay, then I'll leave it to you for the next few days!"
Mu Chong raised his hand and gently patted the other person's shoulder. It was a simple gesture, but it made the other person feel as happy as if they had won a big prize.
While the three were chatting, the crowd that had been scared away by Jorah returned, their faces showing inexplicable joy as they watched Jorah being carried away by his men.
"The hero still hasn't used his assassination skill!!"
"As expected of that man, he didn't kill me even under these circumstances!!"
"But being beaten half to death like this, isn't that worse than being killed?!"
Everyone looked in the direction of Mu Chong, then at Jora, who had already disappeared into the street, and began to murmur amongst themselves.
The afterglow of the setting sun gradually disappeared on one side of the street, but it did not affect the liveliness of Magic Valley Town in the slightest. People walked in groups to the tavern, discussing everything that had happened that day.
Meanwhile, Mu Chong and Siddeke carried the injured Slad towards the Freedom. Night had fallen, and they needed to go back to rest and prepare for tomorrow's events.
White Cat Mumu kept glancing back at the mummy lying in the middle of the street. He couldn't understand why Mu Chong had missed one and hadn't moved it. Only when a group of people ran out from the side and carried it away did White Cat Mumu wriggle and run quickly towards Mu Chong.
……
"Bah! A bunch of sons of bitches, you ingrates! The hero spared your lives, yet you still committed such heinous acts! Hill Bot, what should be done with these people!"
On the deck of the Liberty, Locas, gripping a long sword, stood before a group of pirates bound hand and foot, his face fierce and his eyes filled with murderous intent.
"Locas, let's not rush into action. Let's wait for Lord Hero to return before making a decision. All we need to do is keep an eye on them!"
Hill Bott's tone was calm, but his eyes behind his glasses were filled with rage.
It turned out that while Mu Chong and his group were away from the Freedom, this group of pirates began to plot their scheme. They stirred up trouble and gathered nearly fifty pirates, planning to seize the Freedom and then make their escape.
But to their surprise, facing an attack by dozens of men, Hill Bot, Locas, and Baku managed to hold the Freedom until just now, when the remaining dozen or so surviving pirates were tied to the deck.
What about Baku?
Locas glared fiercely at the bound pirate, then looked at Baku, who was still unconscious on the deck.
"Don't worry about Locas, the doctor has already treated him. This guy's body is ridiculously strong, he'll wake up soon!!"
Hill Bot looked at Baku, a hint of tenderness flashing in his eyes, the image of Baku taking a near-fatal blow for him instantly flashing through his mind.
"Pah! A bunch of ingrates!!"
Locas was still angry. He cursed and plopped down on the deck, his longsword still unsheathed.
Dong dong dong
"Ok??"
A series of hurried footsteps sounded, and a panting pirate came running up.
Hill Bot and Locas, who had been tense, let out a deep breath. If another group of people had arrived now, they really wouldn't have been able to handle it. Both of them had also suffered serious injuries.
"Speak! What is it?"
Hill Bot asked first, his icy tone instantly snapping the somewhat unsteady pirates back to reality.
"Ah, ah, the chivalrous hero is back!!"
"what?"
"really?"
A single sentence was like a refreshing rain poured down on the two of them, instantly spreading a sense of relief and comfort throughout their bodies.
"Let's go, Locas, to greet the hero!"
Hill Bot had barely finished speaking when he was already heading towards the disembarkation point. Even someone as intelligent as him needed someone to rely on.
"Shill Bot, go and greet the hero. I'm worried about leaving these ingrates here!"
Locas, who was about to leave, stopped in his tracks, his eyes fixed on the pirates tied to the deck with unwavering determination.
"Really? Then let's wait together!!"
Hill Bot gave Locas a deep look, then surprisingly pulled back the step he had already taken and plopped back down in his seat.
The two of them returned to their original forms just like that, leaving the pirate who came to report the news stunned on the spot.
On the shore, looking at the perfectly still Freedom, Mu Chong frowned slightly.
"Brother Mu, there's a problem with the Freedom!"
Schidek also noticed something amiss with the Freedom; normally, the deck should have been bustling with people at this time, but the air was thick with the smell of blood.
"Hahaha! Interesting, so interesting! Let's go take a look!"
After handing Slad over to Skedek, Mu Chong walked towards the Liberty on his own, with the white cat Mu Mu closely following behind.
Schidek glanced at Slad in his arms, paused briefly, and then followed.
"Huh, something interesting has really happened! Sigh, a pirate is a pirate after all. No matter what their purpose is for becoming a pirate, as time goes by, that once burning heart will eventually turn cold!"
When Mu Chong reached the hull of the Liberty, the area around it was littered with the corpses of pirates, limbs and torsos everywhere, and the flowing blood had stained the beach around the Liberty red.
Bang
Mu Chong glanced around again, seemingly not finding what he was looking for, then pushed off with his feet and leaped onto the deck of the Freedom.
"Heroic sir!!"
"Heroic sir!!"
First, two ecstatic voices rang out as Hill Bot and Locas confronted Mu Chong, followed by a cacophony of pleas for mercy.
"Heroic sir, we were wrong! Please, please let us go!"
"We'll never do it again!!"
"Hero, haven't you always refrained from killing your enemies? Please spare us this time!"
choke!
"A bunch of damn trash, shut up!!"
Hearing these pirates still dare to beg for mercy, Locas, who had just sheathed his longsword, flew into a rage. He drew his sword, twisting the blade as he slashed at the pirate who was yelling the loudest.
puff!
A massive head rolled onto the deck, and the previously chattering pirates fell silent instantly, staring at Locas in terror.
"Huh? What happened to Baku?"
Mu Chong surveyed the entire scene and the people on the ship. When he saw Baku lying on the deck, he frowned and asked softly...
boom!
Just as Mu Chong asked the question, Hill Bot was about to kneel down on one knee, but Mu Chong stopped him mid-air.
"My lord, Baku was severely wounded by pirates while saving me. He has been bandaged up and is out of danger, but he hasn't woken up yet!"
Hill Bott kept his head down, deeply blaming himself for what had happened.
