Chapter 157: The First Appearance of the Chaos Core
Isaac stepped onto the path leading to the core of chaos. The space beneath his feet seemed to disappear; each step he took felt like treading on invisible water, creating faint ripples. All around him was endless nothingness, devoid of light and sound, only a profound sense of oppression enveloping his soul.
“This is the outer perimeter of the Chaos Core…” Isaac murmured, his gaze deep. He could sense that the rules here had completely collapsed, and even the concepts of time and space had become blurred.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, the scenery ahead finally changed. A faint light appeared in the distance, like a lone star floating in a dark ocean. Isaac quickened his pace, and the light gradually became clearer, revealing a strange scene.
This was a realm suspended in the void, with countless broken runes and fragments floating around it. Some shimmered with a dim light, while others remained motionless, like lifeless remains. These runes and fragments were clearly not ordinary beings; each one emanated profound energy fluctuations.
“These runes… seem to be remnants of the origin of the Chaos Network.” Isaac’s gaze narrowed slightly. He could sense that these fragments contained extremely ancient power, as if they were some kind of core structure that had not yet been fully repaired.
His gaze passed over the fragments and landed on the center of the domain. There floated a massive sphere of light, hundreds of feet in diameter, its surface covered with countless interwoven runes. These runes flowed continuously, emanating a mysterious and unfathomable aura, as if recording some rule from the birth of the universe.
“This is the core of chaos,” Isaac said in a low voice, his tone solemn.
The power of the Chaos Core surged throughout the entire domain like a tide. This power was not simply destructive; rather, it carried a special rhythm, like a slowly beating heart, each beat causing the runes within the domain to tremble.
However, this rhythm also made Isaac feel a strong sense of oppression. He could sense that the core of chaos seemed to harbor great hostility towards his arrival, or rather, it was repelling any force of destiny from approaching.
"Creator, the power of the Chaos Core is awakening." The voice of the Will of Destiny rang in his ears, tinged with tension. "It may have already sensed your presence, and every step you take may be seen as a threat."
"Sensed my presence?" Isaac sneered, a sharp glint in his eyes. "That's perfect. I came here not to hide, but to confront it directly."
Having said that, he slowly raised his hand, and his soul power condensed into a faint golden light, pointing directly at the core of chaos. However, just as the golden light approached the core, a powerful reaction force suddenly erupted, completely shattering the golden light.
“Just as I expected,” Isaac said softly, not at all surprised.
Just then, the runes on the surface of the Chaos Core began to flicker violently. A deep and cold voice came from within the core: "Descendant of Destiny, your steps have crossed the boundary. This place does not belong to you."
Isaac's gaze sharpened slightly. He looked up and stared directly at the core of Chaos, his tone cold and stern: "My purpose is not destruction, but the search for true balance. The power of Chaos has shaken the foundations of the Fate Network, and I must know what your true purpose is."
"Balance?" The core's voice carried a hint of mockery. "Fate and chaos have never needed balance. The existence of fate is a constraint on chaos; and chaos's counterattack is a correction of fate. Balance... is nothing but a self-deceiving fantasy of the fate network."
Isaac remained calm, his gaze still composed, and slowly said, "If fate and chaos are merely opposing forces, then why hasn't the universe collapsed yet? The rules of fate and the reshaping of chaos could have coexisted instead of destroying each other."
"Coexistence?" The core's voice deepened, and the runes flashed even more intensely. "You think coexistence can maintain order? The rules of fate will obliterate the possibility of chaos, while the rebellion of chaos will utterly destroy the order of fate. Coexistence of the two will only plunge the universe into endless chaos!"
“That’s only because you chose confrontation instead of integration,” Isaac said coldly. “Chaos is reshaping, destiny is guiding. They can find balance in each other’s flaws, rather than suppressing each other.”
"Ridiculous!" The core's voice suddenly turned furious, and countless runes flew out from the core, transforming into jet-black blades that frantically attacked Isaac.
Isaac swiftly waved his hands, his soul power transforming into a golden barrier that blocked the blades. However, the blades did not stop; instead, they repeatedly struck the barrier, attempting to tear his power apart completely.
"Since you are so obsessed with fighting, then I will use my power to prove that the balance between fate and chaos is not an illusion!" Isaac roared, his soul power suddenly erupting and transforming into a blazing pillar of light that shot straight toward the core.
"boom--"
The beam of light struck the core's surface, unleashing a deafening roar. However, the core's runes did not collapse; instead, they shone even brighter under the impact of the light. Countless runes reformed, transforming into a gigantic phantom that slowly emerged from the core.
The phantom was like a giant, its body composed of runes, radiating a chaotic pressure. It looked down at Isaac, its voice icy: "Descendant of destiny, do you think you can shake the very source of chaos? Today, I will show you the true power of chaos!"
The phantom raised its hand, and a massive runic blade of light descended from the sky, heading straight for Isaac. Isaac did not back down; his eyes blazed with fighting spirit, and his soul power transformed into a huge golden battle blade, colliding head-on with the runic blade of light.
"boom--"
The collision of the two forces triggered a massive energy storm, shaking the entire area. Isaac was forced back several steps, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of his mouth, but his gaze remained resolute.
"The power of chaos is strong, but fate is not without its own power!" Isaac roared, his hands suddenly waving, his soul power transforming into countless light blades that rushed straight towards the core of the phantom.
The phantom let out a deep roar, its body suddenly expanding, and countless runes surged towards Isaac like a tidal wave. The two forces collided fiercely in the void, erupting with countless dazzling lights.
"The struggle between fate and chaos must end!" Isaac's voice echoed like thunder throughout the domain. "What the universe needs is not destruction, but a balance of rebirth!"
With his roar, his soul power transformed into a blazing golden light, shooting straight towards the core of the phantom. This time, the phantom's runes began to crumble, and the light of the chaotic core gradually dimmed.
"The path to balance... is not as simple as you imagine," the core voice whispered amidst the collapse. "But perhaps... you can give it a try."
As the last rune shattered, the light within the Chaos Core returned to calm. A passage leading to the depths of the core slowly appeared, awaiting Isaac's entry.
“The core of chaos…” Isaac said softly, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth, his eyes burning with even greater determination. “Next, I will make fate and chaos truly find balance!”
His figure gradually disappeared at the end of the passage, and what awaited him was an even more difficult challenge.
