Chapter 875 - 569: The Fake Master [07] Master Pedro: I’m the Project Team’s Financial Backer

Deputy Llewellyn has seniority in the hall, not just a member in name; he was personally invited by Len Vaughn to join Biel Hall back in the day.

Len Vaughn resisted the opposition to endorse Nora Scott as Hall Master of Biel Hall, he has heard about it, and because he trusts Len Vaughn’s judgment, he considered Nora as one of his own even though he hadn’t met her.

Especially after Nora took office, she weakened the Elder Council’s power, reducing them to a powerless entity, and uncovered the traitor who caused significant losses years ago... This was something Len Vaughn always wanted to do but never managed to accomplish. She handled it beautifully within a year of taking office, earning the admiration of Biel Hall’s members.

Moreover...

She is so beautiful that you just want to pamper her like a granddaughter.

Deputy Llewellyn supports Nora unconditionally.

— Their Hall Master of Biel Hall, how could she be easily bullied by others? Today, if Nora compromised for the greater good, he might feel she is cowardly and unworthy of being the Martial World organization’s Hall Master.

"Captain Ford, I already heard about this before I came." Deputy Llewellyn stood up straight, frowned at Ryan Ford, without the amiable expression he had for Nora, only a stern face, he said word by word, "Among you young people, there is a saying: the one who initiates trouble is despicable. Whoever started this should take responsibility, there’s nothing to say."

After stating his position, Deputy Llewellyn quickly glanced at the distressed Daniela Esteves and, taking advantage of Ryan Ford’s pause, continued, "Get a room ready for Miss Esteves. I’ll compensate for any loss Miss Esteves has."

"..."

Daniela Esteves’s face turned ashen, tried to make a facial expression to deal with Deputy Llewellyn but helplessly seemed ready to cry with any movement.

After a moment of deadlock, Ryan Ford compromised for Deputy Llewellyn’s sake, nodded, "I got it."

Had it been just Nora and Shaw, he wouldn’t necessarily follow Nora’s intentions, but suddenly a respected veteran stood by Nora, making it impossible for him to openly break ties with the veteran even if he was unwilling.

However—

Nora’s capricious behavior undoubtedly placed herself in opposition to the entire team. Already a vase character, she couldn’t skillfully avoid trouble, others might endure it, but if she’s incapable and still wants to flaunt her authority and find backing, coming in and showing off, she’ll undoubtedly become a thorn in others’ eyes.

The project is starting tomorrow; without any real insight, but still looking for trouble, she’ll undoubtedly face a lot of trouble then.

No point in quarreling about such issues with her.

"Master Sliver, dealing with unreasonable people, you’ll just have to be a bit aggrieved." Ryan Ford spoke without caring who listened, mocking Nora indirectly with a cold face.

"No worries." Seeing Ryan Ford still take her side, Daniela Esteves, remembering her current status, knew she couldn’t lose composure to fall in status compared to Nora, took a deep breath to calm down, "It’s just an eye-opener."

The matter was settled between the involved parties, even if the result was unpleasant, resolution was achieved. Everyone else was there to watch the drama, nobody spoke up, but once dispersed, clustered around Daniela Esteves, expressing indignation and regret, meanwhile secretly badmouthing Nora.

"Deputy Llewellyn is really muddled, how could he help such an unreasonable woman? Isn’t this aiding the tiger in its acts?"

"I’ve learned something new too—a brat with no abilities, heard she didn’t even graduate college, came in acting recklessly, lawlessly, truly a rotten apple."

"First thing she did was lose other’s belongings, in a few days will she be targeting us?"

"Master Sliver, don’t worry; tomorrow she’ll have her reckoning."

...

*

Once everyone left, the room suddenly became much quieter.

"Hall Master, feel free to reach out to me if you need anything," Deputy Llewellyn said, "I still have some influence within the team."

"Alright."

Nora readily responded without ceremony.

Deputy Llewellyn looked pleased at Nora, chatted with her, first praising her talents and skills even in this line of work, then after learning she was recommended by Julian Linfield, began boasting about Nora’s extensive network, knowing titans in various fields... Basically, he could praise anything.

"Old man, your rainbow compliments are really smooth." Shaw looked on dumbfounded.

Deputy Llewellyn smiled, "Just being polite, I’m speaking from the heart."

Shaw stammered, "Granny, is your hall doing multi-level marketing, with such thorough brainwashing?"

"Get lost."

Nora gave him a sidelong glance.

Deputy Llewellyn chuckled, after glancing at the two of them, said, "Hall Master, it’s getting late, I won’t disturb you. Rest well, I’ll have someone send some supper later. Also, there’s a meeting at nine tomorrow."

"Alright."

Nora nodded.

Deputy Llewellyn then took his leave.

Once he left, Shaw nonsensically moved closer, "Granny, he’s quite reputable in the circle, how comes he’s like this in front of Granny... is your hall really not doing multi-level marketing?"

Nora glanced sideways at him, "You mean I’m not qualified?"

"Qualified, qualified!"

Shaw hurriedly responded.

Nora slightly lifted her eyes, "Your granny’s going to rest now."

"Alright, granny rest well."

Shaw said and was about to leave.

However, when he reached the door, Nora suddenly called out to him, "Wait."

Quickly coming back to his senses, Shaw hurriedly said, "Grandma, do you have any other instructions?"

After pondering for a moment, Nora asked, "Why haven’t I seen Adrian Sullivan?"

With such a big commotion, if Adrian Sullivan were in the villa, he couldn’t possibly be unaware.

"Adrian Sullivan?" Shaw was momentarily stunned, then he recalled who she meant, and explained, "Oh, you mean that guy from the Sullivan Clan in Xiangel City... I heard his sister had a car accident, so he rushed to the hospital. Even if he were to come back, it would be in the middle of the night or early morning."

"Oh."

Nora waved her hand, indicating that this time he could really get lost.

...

Once the door closed, Nora was left alone in the room. She got up and played with her phone, intending to call Pedro Langley. But as she walked toward the balcony, out of the corner of her eye, she suddenly spotted a lighter on the TV cabinet. She paused for a second, her gaze sweeping over it, then walked to the door and turned off the light.

Scanning the room with her eyes, Nora furrowed her brows.

Damn.

After all this, she had dug a pit for herself.

Turning the light back on, Nora walked to the balcony and dialed Pedro Langley’s number.

She spoke immediately, "Clear a room for me, I’m moving tomorrow."

"Were you bullied?" Pedro Langley instinctively asked, then added, "No need to clear it, my bed is big enough."

"..." Holding back her urge to complain, Nora said speechlessly, "I just snatched up a single room, but there’s surveillance; can’t stay there."

Pedro Langley promptly replied, "I’ll come over to pick you up now."

"No need," Nora said blandly, "Find a couple of similar ones tonight, and bring them tomorrow."

"...Alright."

After lowering their voices to this point, Nora reverted to her normal volume and briefly explained to Pedro Langley about what had happened earlier. Initially, Pedro Langley was quite upset for her, but as he listened on, he found it amusing, not knowing what to say about her.

In the end, he could only say, "Good riddance. Throw them out whenever you see them in the future."

Nora snorted lightly, "I don’t have the time for that."

"Then I’ll come tomorrow to stand up for you," Pedro Langley said with a chuckle, his voice full of affection.

"What happened to the promised secret relationship?"

"With a different identity, I can still back you up," Pedro Langley laughed, "You’ll understand when the time comes."

"..."

Nora pursed her lips.

The two chatted for a while, and when about to hang up, the motherly side of Pedro Langley emerged, earnestly reminding, "Wear more when you sleep tonight and don’t kick off the quilt."

"When have I ever kicked off the quilt?" Nora frowned.

"...Wrong, I kicked it off." Pedro Langley immediately corrected himself.

Nora chuckled softly, "Good that you know."

*

Nora, unsure of how many cameras were in the room, couldn’t sleep well even if she wanted to — what annoyed her most were these things, like cheating, leaving people with no privacy at all.

Early the next day, she woke up before dawn, washed simply, and headed out with her bamboo flute.

So that day, at dawn, the entire village heard intermittent flute sounds coming from the mountains, ethereal and faint, as if summoning souls, frightening the early risers, while the villagers hurried to shut their doors and windows tighter than ever.

A little past eight, Nora received a message from Pedro Langley, then emerged from the mountains. She arrived at the villa entrance but didn’t go in, standing outside with her bamboo flute, waiting.

Two familiar security guards recognized her, shivered all over, and avoided her.

"Grandma, good morning!"

A loud shout resounded from a balcony on the second floor of the villa, Shaw’s voice echoing throughout the building.

Everyone: "..."

These two troublesome guys, starting to make their presence known so early in the morning.

Upon hearing the voice, Nora looked up and glanced at the balcony from afar.

Lifting his arm to wave at Nora, Shaw soon went back inside. After a short while, he ran out of the ground-floor door, trotting to Nora’s side.

He asked, "Grandma, who are you waiting for?"

Just as a car drove up, Nora replied casually, "Your grandpa."

Shaw: "..."
