Chapter 882 - 576: Fake Antiques [03] Master Pedro: Nora Scott, Shut Up
Chapter 882 - 576: Fake Antiques [03] Master Pedro: Nora Scott, Shut Up
Ever since meeting Nora Scott and Pedro Langley, the 1101 Engineering Team has truly realized that there are people who can continually lower the threshold of your understanding.
Take Nora Scott for instance; beautiful enough to be a serene beauty, yet her every move reeks of banditry. She’s stingy, arrogant, and capricious, with such an overpowering demeanor that just thinking about it makes them feel suffocated.
Then there’s Pedro Langley, a man of means and influence, with a great physique and looks, who could have any woman he wanted, yet he’s stubbornly devoted to a fox spirit, acting like a pathetic pup.
As normal people, the experts of 1101 feel their worldviews challenged, muddled and a little out of sorts.
Until—
"Hey, where’s Nora Scott?"
When someone wanted to see what kind of sweet but sickening interactions Nora Scott and Pedro Langley were up to again, they suddenly realized the pair had vanished, along with the young man and Shaw who were with them.
"Should be up ahead."
"They’re gone. Even Mr. Langley and that young man aren’t here."
"Left this morning. Passed us earlier. Nora Scott even flipped Captain Ford the bird."
"...Any brave soul wants to chop off her hand?"
"We cultured folk can’t tolerate bloodshed."
...
A group of renowned experts in academia, living proof of being driven mad by Nora Scott, sometimes speaking quite erratically.
*
Nora Scott, Pedro Langley, Shaw, and the young man had gone ahead to the top of the cliff.
It took them a full two hours at their pace.
Nora Scott was used to it; Pedro Langley had trained for years. But when the young man and Shaw reached the top, they were desperate to find a spot to sit down, panting heavily.
"Hall Master, your stamina is really good?" the young man asked in surprise, looking at Nora Scott who seemed barely to have broken a sweat.
"It’s alright."
Nora Scott answered perfunctorily.
She stood at the cliff’s edge, looked down; the depth was dizzying enough to make those afraid of heights go weak at the knees.
But she stood straight, the fierce wind swirling, lifting her hem and strands of hair. The brilliant sunlight bathed her, making her look as beautiful as a painting.
The young man glanced over accidentally, his expression dazed momentarily, thinking the whole internet praising "Fairy Nora" had a reason—her looks and figure alone were enough to support all the compliments.
"Shaw." After a long while, Nora Scott glanced back at Shaw, "The gear."
Still catching his breath, Shaw hesitated upon hearing, "Need it now?"
"Yeah." Nora Scott replied flatly, "It’ll be dark by the time we get back."
Shaw advised, "Alright. Be careful."
The so-called gear was a set of climbing rope equipment. After securing the ropes, one could descend along them. Of course, such a height requires courage, technique, and strength. The 1101 Engineering Team had hired professionals to measure the data, but the surface data and images were not as intuitive as seeing it with your own eyes.
Knowing what Nora Scott intended to do, Pedro Langley frowned throughout.
As Shaw was handling the ropes, Nora Scott, after getting her gear on, walked over to Pedro Langley who had furrowed brows, poked his frowned brows, and teased, "What’s wrong, with that ’I won’t make it back’ look—"
Before she finished speaking, Pedro Langley pinched her cheek, blocking her ominous words back.
"Talk more and you won’t go down at all." Pedro Langley said grumpily with a gloomy face.
"You’ve never rock climbed, have you? My skills are decent." Releasing his hand, Nora Scott carelessly said, "My first climbing was free-hand, with my junior sister, it was twenty, thirty meters high, and I didn’t fall to death even once—"
"..."
Pedro Langley couldn’t stand it anymore, pinched and tugged her cheeks until she broke free, her cheeks reddened.
Nora Scott raised a hand to rub her cheek, pointing at his nose, gritting her teeth, "You tell me, never beat you before?!"
Pedro Langley grumbled, "Shut your mouth, getting more and more outrageous."
"Got guts?"
"..." Pedro Langley was too lazy to bother with her, glanced down the cliff again, frowned, "I’ll go down with you."
Nora Scott waved her hand immediately, "No, if you have any accident, I’d have to die with you."
"..."
Pedro Langley really felt like sewing her mouth shut.
However, the thought of her going down there alone made Pedro extremely anxious.
Worried.
"I shouldn’t have brought you here." Nora Scott knew what he was thinking, stepped forward, straightened his collar, and smiled slightly, "Trust in my skills. Besides, help me watch the others coming up; if there’s anyone with ill intentions, I’ll really be a goner—"
Pedro pressed his palm against her face, forcibly cutting off her ominous words.
*
Nora treated the work as if it were a game, not taking the cliff descent seriously at all.
Once prepared, she grabbed the rope and headed down the cliff.
Pedro was still uneasy about her, sitting next to the rope, controlling a drone, using the monitor to continuously keep an eye on Nora’s movements on the cliff.
Finally, seeing Nora’s ease and familiar operations gradually allowed Pedro’s heart to settle.
...
About half an hour later, Ryan Ford arrived with his team. However, only a part of his team had arrived, as the younger group represented by Adrian Sullivan had the stamina to keep up, while the older ones were still crawling like snails. They might not reach until nightfall.
Ryan took a two-minute break, observing the crowd, sensing something was off, walked over to Pedro, and asked, "Mr. Langley, where’s Nora?"
"..."
Pedro, focused on Nora at the cliff, completely ignored him.
Ryan, feeling a bit awkward, tightened his brow, and was about to leave when he noticed the remote controller in Pedro’s hand, catching sight of Nora on the cliff. He paused, quickly glanced at the nearby rope, realized something, and found the whole situation a bit surprising.
"Did Nora go down the cliff herself?" Ryan asked in astonishment.
Pedro still didn’t respond, but Shaw, rolling up his sleeves, walked over, furrowing his brow as he looked at Ryan, "Is there a problem?"
Ryan: "..."
Isn’t this a problem?
Nora had just established an image of being lazy and unruly, and now she turns around to destroy that with ’hands-on’ action!
—Even he, as the captain, hadn’t thought of going down the cliff himself!
"She’s not a professional, going down there recklessly. If something happens, won’t it just cause trouble for everyone?" Adrian Sullivan suddenly stepped up and made himself very noticeable with his words. Not feeling satisfied, he added deliberately, "Nora’s an attention-seeker, right—"
Before he could finish the word "right," Adrian was pushed back two steps by an abrupt rush. Shaw stepped forward swiftly, grabbed Adrian by the collar, his fierce face magnified, shoving it close to Adrian’s eyes.
"Damned, did you just spit shit? Believe it or not, if you say another word, I’ll rip your mouth apart!" Shaw threatened angrily.
Adrian panicked a bit, struggling, "What are you doing, let go of me—"
Seeing him being as weak as a little girl, Shaw disdainfully snorted and released Adrian, giving him a push backward.
Actually, Shaw didn’t use much force, but Adrian, used to putting on a show, staggered back several steps and ended up landing on his butt, dazed, feeling as if his whole body was falling apart.
"I’ve got you figured out!" Shaw could hardly believe Adrian’s exaggerated performance, pointing at him, "Touch you a bit and you act like I’ve beaten you up, huh? You’re a grown man, yet you behave weaker than a little girl?!"
Shaw’s boisterous voice drew multiple stares in Adrian’s direction, each carrying different meanings.
Suffocated by their looks, Adrian was deeply embarrassed and ashamed.
It was Ryan who walked over, gave Adrian a glance, then warned Shaw, "Don’t get physical."
Shaw got flustered, "Who’s getting physical, I just lightly tapped him! It’s the same as this morning! He’s addicted to fake injuries!"
Ryan: "..." What a mess.
Really not wanting to get involved with Shaw, Nora, or Pedro, Ryan couldn’t care less if Nora was an attention-seeker, and took Adrian off to one side.
The professionals responsible for assessing data quickly secured the ropes, following their plan to survey below. As for Ryan and others, some waited monotonously, others discussed plans with maps, and some, like Adrian who could play with drones, used drones for observation.
When Pedro invested, he provided technical assistance to 1101, including a batch of drones.
These drones could take photos, record data, and reach places people couldn’t.
The team brought several drones for the purpose of observing and recording data regarding personnel and the cliff. Meanwhile, the drone Adrian intended to use was just to casually play and pass time.
However, everything changed when Nora appeared in his vision.
