Chapter 842 - Huang Shengjun Escapes!
“You’re right, our business hasn’t finished, has it?” Han Wu smiled. “I don’t care if you’re the Butcher or Huang Shengjun. You’re not the first to challenge me inside my own divine realm, and you won’t be the last. Let’s see what you’ve got.”
With that, Han Wu unsheathed Peerless and slashed down, unleashing a fierce blade pressure that sliced Huang Shengjun’s body in half. Despite this, Huang Shengjun climbed out of the wrecked pod as if nothing had happened.
“You can’t kill me. Only I can kill myself,” Huang Shengjun smirked, body exploding as if to emphasize his words.
The force of the detonation reduced the surrounding equipment to rubble and sent Han Wu and the others flying more than ten meters back.
Huang Shengjun shot out from the explosion, all nine pupils shining with a sinister light. Exploding himself had allowed him to break free from the gene modifications that the Origin of Mutation had forced upon him by reverting himself to his initial state.
Han Wu leaped to his feet and used the Five Element Seal to disrupt Huang Shengjun’s escape. The twelve-Ring sealing technique locked Huang Shengjun in place, and Han Wu sighed with relief. It was fortunate that he knew sealing techniques. If not, Huang Shengjun’s seemingly endless lives and his self-detonation would have made it difficult to deal with him.
As Han Wu turned to order the Origin of Mutation to begin extracting the Law of Time from Huang Shengjun, five of the nine pupils in Huang Shengjun’s eyes went dark, and the Five Element Seal dissolved before he self-detonated again.
This second explosion was weaker than the first. Han Wu pushed through the explosion and closed in, this time activating the eleven-Ring Elemental Flux Seal. The newly revived Huang Shengjun was sealed once more, but in the very next instant, four pupils went dark, and the seal broke again.
Once free, Huang Shengjun immediately exploded himself again. Han Wu used every sealing technique he had, but still could not keep Huang Shengjun sealed.
Huang Shengjun was in the same but opposite dilemma. No matter how many times he self-detonated, Han Wu would just absorb energy from his divine realm to recover.
When Huang Shengjun realised he had no way to do any real damage in this state and that continuing would only waste his remaining lives, he decided to run.
The Origin of Mutation had no intention of letting such a perfect specimen escape and moved to capture him, only to be caught instead. Even though the Origin of Mutation’s physical body was far superior to Huang Shengjun’s, the latter’s techniques were better. The Origin of Mutation struggled but could not break free.
“Send me out of your divine realm, and I’ll spare your underling. Otherwise, I’ll kill it.” Huang Shengjun threatened Han Wu.
His voice was as rough and coarse as the Butcher’s, making it impossible for Han Wu to tell whether the person in front of him was Huang Shengjun, the Butcher, or an amalgamation of the two.
“Vessel, don’t listen to him. This body of mine isn’t something he can destroy,” the Origin of Mutation said with a scoff.
Huang Shengjun sneered. “Is that so?”
With that, he self-detonated five times consecutively. The lack of recovery time between explosions meant the Origin of Mutation’s entire body was reduced to a bloody mess, and its life force was draining rapidly. Only when Huang Shengjun finally stopped did the Origin of Mutation have a moment to regenerate.
After enduring the chain of explosions, the Origin of Mutation no longer dared to speak so boldly. If it had been forced to endure any more explosions, it could’ve actually been blasted until its life force was exhausted.
“Now send me out of your divine realm, or I’ll kill him,” Huang Shengjun warned.
Han Wu had already quietly called for Xu Hai, but Huang Shengjun wasn’t going to give him time to arrive. The Origin of Mutation’s life was precious, and Han Wu wasn’t willing to risk it.
“I can let you leave my divine realm, but you have to release him first,” Han Wu bargained.
“This ain’t a negotiation. I’m telling you to send me out!” Huang Shengjun started another series of detonations.
Ten consecutive explosions later, and the Origin of Mutation was in the worst state it had ever experienced. A full third of its body was completely obliterated, and the remaining two-thirds were drenched in blood. A few more explosions like that and it could actually die.
“Stop. I’ll send you out,” Han Wu relented.
Stalling for time clearly wouldn’t work. Left with no choice but to comply, he opened a gate that led out of the divine realm.
Sensing that the gate did indeed lead outside, Huang Shengjun said, “We’ll meet again, Han Wu.”
Flashing Han Wu a vicious smile, he shoved the Origin of Mutation to the side and passed through the gate.
Han Wu watched as Huang Shengjun left his divine realm. Even now, he had no way of knowing if that was the original Huang Shengjun, the Butcher, or a combination of both. He only knew that Huang Shengjun’s ability to break the seals had something to do with the Nine-Eyed Evil God.
The Origin of Mutation came to Han Wu’s side. “It’s my fault. I let my guard down. If I hadn’t, he never would’ve grabbed me.”
Han Wu shook his head. “He chose this moment to escape. It was clearly planned well in advance. It’s a good thing that none of the other units in the divine realm were harmed.”
Shortly after, Xu Hai finally transported himself into Han Wu’s divine realm. He had come at full speed after receiving Han Wu’s message, but it was too late.
“Sir, Huang Shengjun has escaped. I suspect the Butcher’s soul has been transferred into Huang Shengjun’s body,” Han Wu reported.
Xu Hai’s expression immediately turned serious. He had been at odds with the Butcher long enough to know the man’s cunning and treachery well. Possessing Huang Shengjun was definitely within his means.
“I’ll issue a command and put every informant to work on hunting down the escaped Huang Shengjun. As long as he hasn’t fled to another civilization, he won’t escape punishment from the Divine Civilization.”
Despite this assurance, Han Wu remained concerned about Huang Shengjun’s bizarre abilities. The unending chain of self-detonations was brutally effective. He himself had no answer for it, and it was hard to imagine that anybody else could counter it either. Capturing Huang Shengjun would be difficult.
Nevertheless, there was nothing he could do. This moment left Han Wu feeling abruptly aware of his own weakness. Even with his strength at the Subcosm rank, he still had no way to resolve unexpected situations such as this. He clearly needed more experience.
“Sir, I’ll accept the escort mission to the Battleborn Civilization. I need the training. The only way I can face every adversary and protect the people I care for is by growing stronger.”
Xu Hai nodded with a smile, pleased that Han Wu was mature enough to acknowledge this. “Good. I’ll make the arrangements. A little advice from me, the Battleborn Civilization may not be as powerful as the Divine Civilization, but it still has plenty of strong individuals. Even with your considerable strength, they may not all be opponents you can handle. Be careful on this trip.”
“I’ll keep it in mind,” Han Wu replied.
