Chapter 1069 - 438: World Scar (2)
As the lighthouse got closer and closer, they gradually realized how exaggerated and gigantic it was.
It could no longer be called a lighthouse; it was a towering circular fortress.
Apart from the thick, long turret they saw from afar, the circular stone walls were surrounded by dense shooting holes and protruding turrets.
Here, it didn’t seem like a fantastical style anymore, but more like the style of iron warfare.
As Alka and their ship gradually approached the port, they could clearly feel something had already aimed at them.
Whether it was because they were a strange ship or as a warning was unknown.
Amid the chaotic ships, Alka and the others docked their sailboat at one of the berths in the port.
As they docked, some sort of thing scanned their ship, and no port personnel came to collect fees, allowing them to dock freely.
"Shall we go down for a look?" Alka turned his head to look at everyone and asked.
In response, everyone nodded, all feeling a bit curious about this place.
"Let’s spread out in the city and take a look around to understand the situation here."
With that said, Alka jumped off the ship directly.
Everyone jumped down one by one.
Chadite and Lucilia followed Alka towards the port.
The port was bustling with people, looking somewhat noisy. But amongst those coming and going, whether civilian or laborer, there was a fierce aura.
They all looked quite capable in a fight.
Alka observed the humans here, noticing some degree of mutation.
Some had eyes resembling orange-red, some had slightly pointed ears, and certain areas of their bodies had small bone spurs.
Everywhere could be seen unfamiliar humanoid races.
"Not watching where you’re going?"
Not far away, it seemed a collision had occurred, and a box of cargo fell to the ground.
Looking at the cargo that fell to the ground, it was all sorts of materials plucked from demons, though they seemed mostly to be small horns and tails from imps.
As the noise ensued.
A squad of soldiers marched through the crowd.
"What’s all the noise? What’s happening?"
Alka and the others looked over, seeing the soldiers clad in heavy armor, entirely in black. But it didn’t look like metal, rather a kind of pure black hard stone.
In their hands, an extravagant spearhead like a sword blade.
Alka blinked; the squad of soldiers numbered five, all at various stages of Tier Three.
On the armor, some markings could be seen.
An axe struck a simple drawing of a demon.
After watching for a while, the three of them headed towards the city.
"Noticed it? The exported goods seem to be all demon materials, while the imported goods are various supplies."
Chadite had been observing the goods here, saying.
Alka nodded, also noticing many goods bore the mark of the Four Gods Church.
Beyond the port, the largest structure seen resembled a tavern.
It was possible to see small groups, armed simply, wielding various weapons, and some stained with blood scars, going back and forth on the street.
Some even hung materials like trophies, all derived from various demons.
After careful observation, Alka found not just demons, but creatures he had never seen before, with materials taken from unknown beasts.
The buildings here were all low and made of heavy stone blocks.
All used various hard gray, white, and brown stone blocks, and Alka hadn’t seen any building taller than three stories.
They seemed very sturdy and solid.
The noise in his ears revealed a cacophony of languages, but predominantly the language of the Four Divine Seas.
Alka blinked slightly.
Looking at the people moving back and forth on the street.
Amongst this crowd, Alka spotted four entities exuding a treasure aura.
Even ordinary inhabitants, like women in linen clothes, were at the Second Stage in strength.
"The Holy Mother’s church?" While passing through the street, Alka and the others saw a structure resembling the Holy Mother Church. Why resembling? Because the building looked somewhat like a war fortress.
Yet they did see a statue of the Holy Mother and a Holy Emblem at the entrance.
Looking inside, both priests and guards were clad in armor.
At the entrance, someone in heavy armor, holding a book encased in steel, seemed to be using a healing spell.
In front of him was a line of wounded individuals, including mercenaries, civilians, and the soldiers in black stone armor they’d just seen at the port.
The priest’s armor wasn’t just for show, with visible tiny scratches and slight dents.
A chain whip hung at his waist, with dried blood on the mace head.
Moreover, under the priest’s armor was a priest’s robe, his build appearing not strong, but about the standard for an adult.
A nearby guard of the Holy Mother Church noticed Alka and the others coming over.
Approaching, he crossed his hands to salute.
Alka and the others also returned the salute.
Evidently, this guard recognized the aura from the Holy Mother on them.
"Saints, is it your first time here?"
Clearly, for members of the Holy Mother Church, identifying saints was extremely easy.
