Chapter 827 - 756: Abyssal Demon
Chapter 827 - 756: Abyssal Demon
"Remember, when encountering a Deep Abyssal demon, avoid close combat, don’t get burned by their flames, and don’t let their mental pollution invade your Spiritual Sea..."
In four hours of class, Cohen briskly introduced more than twenty typical lives from various typical Planes, explaining the structure, characteristics, and weaknesses of these typical lives.
"Remember, these are just typical examples. The lives of the Endless Plane are infinite, and you can’t know them all. But by mastering these types, you can infer by analogy. When you encounter an unfamiliar enemy, first determine which category its body structure belongs to, which energy operation method it approaches, what characteristics its attack methods have, and where its defensive weaknesses might be."
"In the Endless Plane, there are no life civilizations entirely identical, but overall, they fall within these ranges..."
At the end of the class, Cohen paused for a moment.
"This is the purpose of this course."
"To give you at least a direction to think when faced with the unknown."
"However, to survive in the complex Endless Plane, adaptability is even more crucial..."
"That’s all for today, same time next week, same place."
"Begin practical training."
...
A week later.
The same grassland, the same sky, but this time, a massive metal cage stood in the center of the grassland.
The cage was entirely cast from a dark silver alloy, with its surface engraved with countless sealing runes, each rune slowly circulating and emitting a faint golden light.
The cage was about thirty meters high, and inside it was pitch black, nothing could be seen.
The trainees stood a hundred steps away from the cage, their gazes fixed on the darkness within.
Cohen stood directly in front of the cage, his hands clasped behind him, his expression as calm as if he were waiting for an inconsequential performance.
"Inside the cage is..." His voice was not loud, yet clearly reached everyone’s ears, "a real Level 2 Deep Abyssal demon, alive."
He raised his hand and gave a gentle wave.
The sealing runes on the cage suddenly lit up and then unraveled layer by layer.
Darkness surged out of the cage.
Like a tangible black mist, carrying the acrid stench of sulfur and the sweet tang of blood, it instantaneously shrouded half the sky.
Within the mist, a pair of dark red eyes suddenly lit up.
Those eyes were as large as a washbasin, the vertical pupils like a snake’s, burning with the never-extinguishing hellfire.
Then came the figure.
It slowly walked out from the darkness, each step leaving a scorched footprint on the ground.
Standing over five meters tall, its whole body was covered with dark red Scale Armor, from the gaps of which black flames constantly seeped.
On its head were a pair of curved long horns, the tips emitting a ghostly blue light.
A pair of giant fleshy wings slowly unfurled on its back, with some viscous liquid dripping from the bone spurs at the tips.
Its gaze swept over the tiny humans, and its mouth curled into a grin, revealing a maw full of sharp fangs.
"Humans..."
Its voice was as deep as muffled thunder, with each word carrying a wave of corrosive energy, "Delicious... humans..."
Cohen ignored its threat, merely turning to look at the trainees behind him.
"Observe clearly, the standard form of a Level 2 Deep Abyssal demon." His voice was as calm as if introducing a dish, "Scale Armor Defense is stronger than most Level 2 Life’s defensive methods. Flame corrosion, a touch will cause harm. Mental pollution, constantly emitting. Speed is fast, burst speed even faster. Power is extraordinary, do not engage directly."
He paused for a moment, raising his right hand.
"Now, watch closely."
The demon roared, its wings beating fiercely, transforming into a black stream of light charging at him.
The speed was astonishing, and among the Level 2 Mages present, less than half could follow its movements.
Cohen didn’t dodge.
He merely extended his right hand, fingers spread wide.
The demon stopped abruptly three feet away from him.
It wasn’t that it wanted to stop, but that it slammed into an invisible wall. That wall was unseen, untouchable, yet it forcibly held its five-meter-tall body suspended in mid-air. The black flames on its Scale Armor burned fiercely, attempting to corrode that wall, but couldn’t even stir a ripple.
Cohen’s gaze fell on the demon, and he slowly spoke:
"Firstly, the charge of the Deep Abyssal demon starts with wings retracting and the spine arching. Upon seeing this move, prepare to dodge or defend."
The demon struggled and roared, but couldn’t move an inch.
"Secondly, their flame corrosion is essentially a compound energy of Dark Attribute and Fire Attribute. There are two ways to counter it: either neutralizing with Light Element Magic or forcibly suppressing with purer energy."
Cohen raised his left hand, from the palm of which a gentle white light emerged.
It was Light Element, Light Element in its purest form.
He gently pushed that white light.
The white light entered the demon’s body.
The demon’s roar instantly turned into a scream.
Those black flames, like snow under a blazing sun, melted away at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Its Scale Armor began to crack, black foul-smelling liquid seeping from the fissures.
"Thirdly, mental pollution. This is the most troublesome, the most vexing aspect of Deep Abyssal demons. They continuously emit mental waves, and Mages without enough Spiritual Power nearby will be affected, suffering from hallucinations at best or becoming directly polluted into madness at worst."
Cohen’s voice remained calm, as if explaining an ordinary problem.
"There are two methods of coping: either having Spiritual Power far superior to the opponent to forcibly suppress, or preparing Spiritual Protection measures in advance."
He withdrew his right hand, and the demon fell from mid-air, crashing heavily to the ground.
